And that's what I did . Swapped out the Derby for a Gillette/Wilkinson with 3 shaves under its belt and now I am silky smooth. Lamented all day today for not using a sharper blade but you live and learn.
Hopefully the sinus situation has improved as I got the call for the mill. Today was rough with alot of pain and gross nose flushing techniques. I didn't promise I would show up but I'm sure going to attempt to make it and that's the best I can do. Until next time ....

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Pears Lemon ~ Flower Transparent Bar Soap + Nuage Menthol shaving Oil.
Brush: Unbranded Turkish Boar.
Face Lather.
Frankensoap : (Grated) Arko Shave stick + Dettol Original Anti Bacterial Soap & Palmolive Classic Shave Stick.
Blade: Derby Premium. (4)
Razor: Lord L125.

Post:
Cold Water Face Rinse./Homemade (~Winter mix~) Lavender + Tea Tree Oil Witch Hazel Mixture./Duru ~ Mandarin Cologne /Aloe Vera Gel.

A near Turkish themed Thursday shave..

It's been a while since i last used the Lord L125 razor, a lightweight middle aggression razor which was kindly passed on to me each time i normally use my Schmidt R10 Handle to give the razor more heft, however with either handle the performance and shaving results from this razor have been satisfactory. Paired together with the Derby Premium blade on it's 4th & last outing made a wonderful smooth duo.
A enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a small dollop of Aloe Vera Gel.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

What a difference when you can sleep till 5-5:30 am. Aaaahhh, and a great shave. Continuing with the 1508.5 on steroids and boredom is at bay for now as I'm seeing progress. Can I run it out till done only time will tell. I wanted to run the Lupo Dual Comb on the .95 SB side only and it confirmed that of all the options that were recently available, the .95 SB is the best fit for me. Sold Out but have a lead on one that hopefully is still available for me to purchase. Then the Dual Comb base plate will be for sale and perhaps the .72 as well. Have a sample of the TDH EDP to compare to my EdT and will give thoughts on that when I wear for awhile. Pic is with my 1st motorcycle..........literally the one I played with as a kid. My mom made me buy one on ebay to trade her for it because she wanted one in the set for the grandkids to play with. Thanks Mike (My Brother with the kids) Hope everyone has a stupendous day !

Good morning!

Smooth easy shave to start the day. The C plate Karve with its .85mm gap and slight positive exposure is just automatic. I have been shaving daily although only my neck and cheeks. Clean shave work requirements no longer apply to me and I was curious what my beard looks like. Seven days growth on my face right now and it's as I expected, almost all silver.

I'm not officially a member of the MOLC but I'm taking a practice run starting today. I'm off until March 8th which will be my last day at work. I haven't had more than two consecutive weeks off since I was fifteen years old. A new chapter begins.

SOTD THURSDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 4, 2021

Today is my birthday and this morning’s shave is dedicated to my lovely second wife, Lauren, whose birthday was yesterday. Lauren and I lost our respective first spouses to cancer during November and December of 2012. Lauren had been married for 28 yrs and I’d been married for 42 years. We will be married for five years this June. In her honor I selected two incredible shaving tools. My very early Cast Steel H. Boker French Point and my refurbished Schick F Type injector were the perfect razors for my mug and dome shaves respectively. I do love the way this old Boker feels in hand, and after two pasted and one leather stropping easily swept away my mug whiskers in three, easy passes with the Traveling Wilburys “Handle with Care” playing in the background.

The huge MrEE Monster Aluminum Handled Tuxedo Synth is a lathering beast that easily generated the thin, slick facial lather that the old Boker glided through on its three pass whisker obliteration mission. The following bowl lathering exercise could have kept three barbers supplied, but resulted in the overly generous, thick, protective lather carpet I prefer for my dome shaves. The old F Type used for the dome shave accompanied my neighbor’s Marine Officer father through the Pacific. It saved his life on Bougainville where it along with the rest of his mess kit was severely damaged blocking shrapnel from a Japanese grenade. It was restored for me by the very able Tom White (@twhite) and now delivers an excellent shave again. I'm grateful to be a cancer survivor pushing three quarters of a century. The Krampert’s Frostbite AS Splash was the perfect ending, leaving me feeling cool, clean, and velveteen smooth on this beautiful, cold, sunny Philadelphia day! I wish the Lord’s Grace and health to all my shave brothers and sisters!

PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil

Awesome shave this morning.

The Simpson T3 Trafalgar made easy work of the Tabac.

I loaded a fresh Astra SP with the corners muted in the SRX. Two nice passes with the Parker ...north and south. I have realized that skin stretching is very important when using a shavette. No blood loss this morning and the alum was barely noticeable. A little Witch Hazel and a few squirts of American Tobacco by Andy Hilfiger.

I am really enjoying this focus and it is great trying something different.

On a tear this morning, using some neglected oldies in the back of the shave cabinet...PAA's John Frum CK6 and the EVO knot, awesome face lather slinging fun. I prefer a slightly wetter lather for open edge shaving, so the knot was a bit drippy going into the oversized PAA container. Still slick with nice volume, but had to laugh as it was a flyin'. Short bit of time on a linen strop for the J3Customs 8/8 quarter hollow shave hatchet, super smooth whisker mowing this morning. The hefty blade shows to be ~9 layers of steel, laminated to help define the effect. It's quite possibly one of my smoothest shaving straights, easily maneuverable despite it's size. Two and a half passes, 2 small weepers, both appear to be skin bumps (slight ingrowns that won't go away). Quick slather of PAA's Star Jelly followed by a palmful of PC's Classic Vanilla AS (wifey approved for daytime use, a vanilla barbershop aroma), and I'm ready for a busy Thursday.

Fine shave this morning. I'll have to say I "got away with one". What do I mean. We'll get to that later. The Stoylin 26 mm Pro-Handle is the perfect brush for a soap that exceeds 5 oz(For me, that would include the Jeeves Bay Rum, at 7, and, of course, all large-size Stoylins). Anyway the first pass was actually 1.5 passes, as more soap was needed after the first few "paint jobs". This tells me once and for all that lathering is something on which I need to focus(remember kids, never end a sentence with a proposition. That includes double negatives, @Primotenore ). I also got a Knick during the opening pass(es). Right off the right side of the lower lip. Very well done in all other shaveable areas. Dis some extra work just below the jawline at North Central Cactus Nation. The soap, by the way, was a Central Texas Soaps offering-Weekend Rodeo(hence the choice for this Throwback Thursday..rodeos first came about probably during the George Washington administration.. CTS has always been a "fan favorite" of mine. The aftershave was of the same name. Now here's the part where I "got away with one". Following the administering of the aftershave, the Knick was gone. Because the Knick occurred in the first place, I lower the grade some to Super Duper Excellent.

Good morning, gents. Busy start to the morning that included a doctor's visit, supply runs, blessings counted, and lessons learned. All good.

I completed my second Parker SRX/Tabac focus shave this morning. Two passes plus touch-ups on almost two days of growth for a nice, close, comfortable result. The alum was fairly quiet, and I took extra care to avoid those pesky blade corners. I eschewed all the fu-fu scents due to today's medical stuff.

Sorry for the brief update. I hope to return later to see if @Primotenore has more entries for the Dirty Dozen and to check on @Paul Turner's likes and early polling extrapolations.

Came home to work from home after an hour or so in the office while arranging a pro to come in for help. Apparently Heating specialists are very busy these days.
Anyway, an effortless shave early this morning with a great lather and this smooth razor. Clint was right- automatic shaves from the get go. The Reserve Cool is much closer to what it used to be before the years started to be unkind to it as well- Regular use makes it sing.
I hope to catch up a bit on the thread later tonight...

I guess I will find out tomorrow when I return to the use of the RR X for the last two shaves of this focus.
I finished of the shave with a nice splash of the PAA Boomtown Bsy Rum. This scent, as with most PAA aftershaves, will stay with me all day. Another avatar change later today. Have a great day gentlemen.

The soap is reducing at a good pace now but we all know how long the death ring can hold on. Still I've been staying with it. Took the Krect back out for a glorious shave and I have to say that it was so worth ending my No Buy for this razor. Topped off with the Ferrari Black and ready for Coffee and chilling before heading out the door to battle whatever the world has to throw at me. Have a great day Guys !
