It's ok Dave! I invented the acronym and term because I would get better than DFS, but not BBS in my early days of wetshaving. Members that know me long enough know what I mean. Finally, this is my rating system from highest to lowest.
Supreme BBS / passes cotton test, the ultimate shave.
BBS / Self explanatory
BBS- / not quite BBS because there is some invisible roughness on lower neck or chin/ mouth area. The areas are small.
IBSS ++ / Same as BBS - but the invisible patches are a little larger.
IBSS+ / same as IBSS++, but there is scrufinness on the jawlind.
IBSS / most shavers would call it a DFS, but I usually don't get to this level unless I am in a hurry and the blade is really dull for my whiskers.
I hope I cleared my system Dave. I originally had a letter grading system. The lowest I went was A-. It was because was very lenient because I was starting out. Now, if I had to go back to the grading system, then I wouldn't be so lenient because I am a veteran straight shaver.
Here's how my grades would correspond with my new rating system.
Supreme BBS = A+
BBS = A
BBS- = A-
IBSS++ = B+
IBSS+ = B
IBSS = B-
In concluding, my shaves lie within the B to A range with 95 % of my shaves in the A- / A range.
Aren't you glad you asked?
