  2. Thanks Jeff. Be careful on your trip.
Thanks Joe. It was a great afternoon for a short hike. Yes, I'll combine the shaves from this mini focus with the 52 shaves from my earlier shavette focus. I'll get to 100 eventually and hope to include a few shaves with my Feather AC SS folder.
Thanks Dave. A year ago I had never heard of Zoom. How things have changed.:shocked029:

  11. Hi guys!

I was at my local Family Dollar store to pick up some items. I was browsing a bit and came upon these two metal bowls. I was curious to see if one neatly fits into another. I am thinking home made scuttle. Voila! It does. I got home to try it out. I placed hot water in the larger bowl and place the smaller one on top. Decided to bowl lather with Stirling Satsuma and my Rockwell synthethic brush. I was impressed by the quality of the creamy, thick lather and how it looked on my face. I would say Maestro would be proud. I will be bowl lathering for my first R102 shave to really give me that cushion. During the summer months, I will.just use the smaller bowl to lather. This "scuttle" cost me about 1 dollar, maybe a little more. I'm not sure because I didn't take the receipt. It still is less expensive than what is out there in the shaving world. Here are the pics showing the bowls separately and then stacked together. As you can see, one bowl is smaller than the other so that it is somewhat sealed to prevent the heat from escaping. It is great when things work out the way they do. By the way, I still have my plastic bowls. I just relegate them to junk food holders. 20210206_174539.jpg 20210206_174548.jpg

  16. I had to awkwardly take this photo from the front of my phone because the back camera is not working due to the latest iOS bug. Anyway I decided to compare the modern brut to the vintage. I Honestly found the vintage to be a whole lot greener and herbal smelling. I find it to be a very hard fragrance to pull off despite me liking it. The modern is definitely more powdery smelling smelling. I get a nice kick of this Mint along with the herbal-ness that’s in the vintage. Overall I really like this stuff. Does this stuff beat vintage old spice? No way man!

  17. Lol! Thamks Dave! I am frugal when an opportunity arises. Sometimes, it is nice to stubble on something that I wouldn't necessarily buy if it wasn't for this hobby. By the way, you forgot to mention that I ordered a custom razor from Art Razor Co. I like to keep the record straight. ;)

Switched up the blade to a Derby Premium, but still going with the Karve. This blade came via Gary on one of our trades and iirc, he really likes it. Barry used one the other day and inspired me to pull out the tuck for a first use.
An unhurried two pass Sat afternoon shave started out with a nice lather. I’ve had my ups and downs with this soap for sure. Loved it when I got it the first week it was released to match the awesome scent of the previously released splash. Took a notoriously light load. Then it declined, it did not age well over the next few years. Then I figured out to bloom and load the heck out of the aged version. With regular use this past few weeks, it is unneeding of a bloom. A heavier load than when it was new, but nothing like before it was in the 1508.5 club. A magnificent scent, regardless.
The blade? Meh. Ok, but not up to the smoothness or sharpness level of the PermaSharp I just pulled out. Thanks though, Gary, for the opportunity to try it. I will give it another day in this razor after joining in the Muhle/Muhle clone day on Monday.
    Have a great night all!
