SOTD MONDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 8, 2021
Great shave on this second day in rural Tennessee. I’ve become a fan of A&E products. I brought the A&E Kaizen croap with me. I’m hoping to use it up. This croap provides great skin benefits, but is a bit too smelly for me. Fortunately, the scent dissipates quickly. I bought it based on a good friend’s review, and liked it so much I went on to purchase the brand’s Shaving Butter unscented product which is every bit as good as my regular MWF. The JR Boar brush made the face and dome lathering process a pleasure. As much as I like Cremo Shave Cream, it is not a brush-friendly product. In any case this morning’s mug shave featured my C-Mon Special 11/16. As one of my top seven vintage razors, it really holds an edge, and is joyously sharp, or what my friend Bill in his most recent shave video would call “styrofoam peanut sharp”. It’s whisker-melting edge delivered the kind of three pass velveteen smooth result I’ve come to expect from all my straight razors. The Bakelite handled Shake Sharp, the favorite of my three Shake Sharps, cleared away my dome stubble with two delightful ATG passes in much the same fashion. I don’t know what it is about these little SEs, but when loaded with two stacked DE blades, they have no peer. I feel clean, cool, refreshed and velveteen smooth.
