Asylum Shave Works SS & AS - Old Virginia
    Jason's 2019 30DC w/Omega Boar
    J3Customs 10/8
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Jelly ASB

Same shave hatchet yesterday and today.....a serious piece of layered steel, 5/16ths of an inch wide spine carrying the opalescent inlay which fills the middle 3/16ths. @jtspartan's handle loaded with the Omega boar is fun to use, the huge splay of the broken in knot literally eats soap, lathers anything wonderfully, and feels like a cloud on the face when full of suds. 2.5 passes today, first was WTG, mostly for my growth is N/S. Second pass was XTG, nose to ears, followed by an opposite XTG pass for the neck/jawline only, ears to nose (toe dropped). No goofiness with the crimson stuff, this blade is a very smooth shaver after a short stropping session. Finished with PAA's Star Jelly followed by ASW's (now unobtanium) Old Virginia after shave, which was actually made by Wet Shaving Products. Originally enabled onto this set by our resident fraghead @Primotenore, Old Virginia is a very deep pipe tobacco pouch aroma with a slight but distinct vanilla and tonka bean warmth. Great Tobacco Tuesday juice, super wifey approved, still catching whiffs all day....probably from an over application process :D. Hopefully I can make the soap outlast the bottle.

Trying to keep up, lots going on in my world lately....mostly reading in the late evenings.

Hope everyone had a Great Tuesday!

  9. Our every 2 week shopping for us and the Out-Laws is this Friday but they're calling for an Ice Storm so ran out tonight to be ahead of the game. We're in Whitley County
...ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM THURSDAY TO 7 AM EST
    FRIDAY...

    * WHAT...Significant icing is expected. Total ice accumulations
up to a quarter of an inch are expected.

    * WHERE...Wayne, McCreary, Whitley, Knox and Letcher Counties.

    * WHEN...From 1 AM Thursday to 7 AM EST Friday.

    * IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the
ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Thursday morning commute.

  11. Oh boy. Smart move to go out before. Stay safe

  12. Not a nice forecast. Last time we had one like that power remained out in places for almost 3 weeks . They learned it pays to keep trees trimmed back from powerlines . The heavy ice buildup dropped wires everywhere too. Stay safe !

  15. Thanks guys, will do. Have 2, 100 lb propane tanks filled for the fireplace for heat. Have 2 , 20 lb ones for the gas grill to cook and a small generator to keep the freezer and fridge going. Also oil lamps and oil. Hoping it's more bark than bite but I try to be prepared.
  16. That's a very smart move Dave!
Hembree, JACarbone, jluc and 4 others like this.
  17. That's true . Can never be too prepared for an event like an ice storm. Don't forget gas for the generator :)
  18. Must this single old man teach you everything! You are supposed to say both, the perfume and the clothes! Lol!
Hembree, JACarbone, jluc and 4 others like this.
  19. Thanks, Propane generator, I never worry about the carb being gummed up. Pros and cons to propane but it's been good for me for 4 years now.
  20. Very smart to go that route. Dont know how many times I've seen people lose power only for the generator to not start due to bad gas or no gas. They obviously never ran the generator to test it "before " the storm arrived. Ugh:angry032:
