I grill in the winter here too but not during storms. Right now my bbq is half buried on the deck since I didnt get the roof on this year . You are going to love that topper and we are going to love seeing what you cook on it Jim Thanks Joe . Storm is over but another coming Friday. Just enough time to mentally prepare for it . Seems winter will go out with a bang this year ...in the US and Canada
I recall when Parker first released their “Variant” adjustable there were some plating issues. Apparently it was successfully corrected. I think these folks will either correct it or have to retire the model due to bad sales and bad press. It is good you have made this known. Unfortunately these things usually involve more tan a isolated piece. You are wise to step back.
It doesn't look like an anodized gunmetal finish like on the Rockwell I have so its obviously a clear coat. I hope they resolve this issue because they nailed it as far as making a great razor. My Fatip slant has the chrome finish and seems ok but it's not a daily driver. I will step back like you said and wait it out .
Williams Wednesday Wednesday February 17, 2021 Razor: Blackland Blackbird Blade: Wizamet (1) Brush: Rubberset 400/Cashmere Soap: Vintage Williams AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Vintage Aqua Velva Fragrance: Nautica Blue So Sneaky Eric (Maineyooper) slyly sent me his Blackland Blackbird to try. He had said he would after his foray was done but I didn't realize he was done and had mailed it. I'll say the low blade gap compared to the Yates H Plate will fool you because this is a much more aggressive feeling razor to me on first stroke on my dry cheek after putting a fresh blade in it (couldn't resist just to get a feel last night when it arrived) so I could know what to look forward to in the morning. I already had the N075 up for bat as I'm on the fence on selling it. Picture taken and everything but I have been so curious about this razor for so long seeing people say it's smooth and others saying it's a beast. Now the Ti is out and said to be smoother. My head was swirling on whether I wanted it or would regret it if purchased. That's where friends that will let you try theirs before you buy are invaluable. So I decided to go with the Blackbird and retake the Pic. So my with the grain on the first few strokes that actually had soap this time I could feel and hear the cutting and I could tell that this was a razor to pay attention to while shaving more so than normal like a typical muscle memory shave. Watch the angle and keep the pressure light. Finished the 1st pass and yeah, VERY efficient. Probably the smoothest I've ever been on a 1st pass. The shave was smooth too if you watch the angle and pressure and were mindful (something I'm not always good at as my mind will wonder) 2nd pass was much more of the same thoughts as the 1st, smooth and doing it's job. This may have been the first time I ever thought, I could stop at 2 passes but I like the glass smoothness that comes from the 3rd atg pass. I went much slower and more methodical about this on my neck and especially the S to N on my chin, around my mouth and above my lip. No issues.........................almost. Caught a scar just below my nose with a decent dig into the skin which the fluids were held at bay by styptic there quickly. All in all a great shave and has me at a quandary. I'm a daily shaver and seldom need a razor this efficient but I do want to love it. It does have some blade chatter due to where it clamps the blade. It wasn't an issue for me but it is vocal to let you know about it when it hits kevlar whiskers on the atg pass.........................pondering and some more shaves are in order to make a good unhurried decision. Thanks again Eric for the chance to try this !!
Now that is a griddle. I am sure you will really enjoy using the new griddle once the weather improves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Excellent shave report on the Blackbird. I have a brass Blackbird and love its efficient shave but find it is razor I don't use often. I think you might have nailed the reason. Stay warm and safe today
Thanks Clint and you too Buddy. I can buy this for $120 if I want it so I'm trying to be certain before I pass but it is probably not one I NEED Just not sure.......
I really wanted one in Black but they were out of stock. I need to pull mine out and decided if its a keeper or not. I waffle on the issue depending on the day and my mood.
February 17, 2021 Merica WSC/Yates Tatra Platinum Semogue Taj Mistura Arran Lochranza Myrsol Antesol Guerlain Habit Rouge EdT Happy Hump Day everyone. The week is flying by very quickly. Unfortunately, I have not been as productive as I had hoped. At least I can have a relaxing shave to start the day. I pulled out the Arran Lochranza. I would describe the scent as typical UK cologne. I find the scent to be very nice lasting throughout the shave but dissipating quickly. The Taj Mistura loaded and lathered the soap with ease. Three passes and touch ups ended with a drama free BBS shave. A splash of Antesol and a spritz of Habit Rouge left me feeling and smelling good. Even SWMBO gave a positive comment which is always nice. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
19 degrees in Alabama this morning. We are going up to 37 today! No problems driving to work this morning....MWWC. Awesome Razorock solid shave this morning. The RR 400 took care of the RR soap. No problems with RR Hawk V2. Three smooth passes with just a hint of alum. A little Witch Hazel followed up with another Big Lots dupe. I hope everyone is staying warm and is coming through this weather great. Take care gentlemen.
Fantastic photo Danny. You have turned into a photo master. We got down to 23 this morning. A lot of icy patches on the back rounds this morning but no real issues with my commute
Great photo and shave Danny! Hope you have a great day. 13° here and heading to 37. Let's go clean windows which I can start once it gets to about 20° if there's no wind. Fun times!
February 17th Cooper Monobilt w Astra SP APShave 2Bed/Evan's Aluminum Fine Platinum combo Thayers Pulled out the Monobilt today...it had been too long. Whipped up a very nice lather- the usual Fine puck quality and this 2Bed really is a good synth. 3 smooth passes reminded me how much I love this razor- the smoothness/efficiency combo is still being chased by some razors today, imho. Some have definitely achieved it, others pale in comparison to this 30s classic. I might have a little left on my lower right neck, but I didn't really chase it either. Didn't know what blade was in there until I looked afterwards...the Astra is still good for another day, methinks. This Aventus dupe is nice- supposed to be a power suit scent, but I will eschew a tie today. Have a great day all!
