SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 17, 2021

Woke up to a bright, sunny, 22°F morning. Grabbed my recently acquired H. Hobson Sheffield wedge. I’m definitely going to tung oil the carved scales, as they look like they could use it. Shaving with this wedge reminded me of yesterday’s Feather DX mug shave, quiet, yet remarkably efficient. The A&E Shaving butter is rapidly becoming one of my favorite software accessories and greatly enhanced the shave! I adjusted the Eclipse Red Ring to its most efficient (aggressive?) setting and enjoyed a great dome shave albeit with a minor weeping bump removal on the first pass on the left side of the noggin which disappeared after the second pass. I feel clean, refreshed and velveteen smooth!

RAZOR: H. Hobson Sheffield Wedge (Mug), Eclipse Red Ring (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: JT Sapele/Resin Handled Omega Pro48 Boar Knot
    CREAM : A&E Shaving Butter
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

  6. Very nice Williams Wednesday shave combination Dave. Superb review and details on the Blackbird. The mechanics of blade clamping and blade chatter definitely plays a part for me as well with DE razors. Big fan of Blackland’s razors (have 3), but I’m the odd man out on the ‘Birds squarish design. Letting it replaces the NO75 shelf space? Hmm…

Hope ya have a great day!

Cool image and setup Clint! Positive comments from SWMBO always a bonus. Happy Wednesday!

Very nice Danny! Big fan of the Hawk….maybe it’ll be on v4 by the time I’m ready. 37F? Jealous. Have a great day!

That Monobilt is so shiny! Need to bring my poor old guy out, been thinking about it, it’s such a great razor for sure. No tie? Work from home day? Have a grand day Jason!
  7. Excellent comparison shave Joseph. Sounds like some nice edges on both of the straights. Take care.

  8. I get nothing but an alcohol smell from the bottle. Maybe if I shake it up and splashed it on my face, tgen I may get the scent, but I doubt it.
  9. Once again, the ole professor has started his day with a great above the shoulder shave! Have a great day Jeff!

  11. NB '21 Disclosure

I purchased a brush on Amazon for a friend. It will pair up with a beautiful NEW SC from the @jtspartan den and a puck of Stirling Executive Man (obtained both items before my NB began) for a world class starter kit.

Not that I care as a dedicated no-buyer, but Amazon has fantastic prices on Omega brushes right now. I got this one for $8 with free shipping. You can even find the big Omega '98s for $10.

  12. Manual redistribution of a solid that will usually turn to liquid in a few hours? Nah…too much work. Work boots get that problem solved. But, I have been known to fire up a combustion engine for that purpose. Super amusing fun :D

  13. Agreed Blair. Many of my neighbors want every last flake off their driveway. Scraped down to the concrete and covered in salt for good measure. I've never seen the point as our snow always melts fairly quickly anyway. And the salt just makes a mess.

As we have nowhere to be, I'm normally not worried about it, but we have an appointment tomorrow. I cleared a narrow path on my driveway with a broom to keep from dragging a mess into my garage tomorrow morning when we get home. After the first snow, my kind neighbors saw me sweeping and came over with two shovels to clear the entire driveway. The best part is that I got to know them better, and he's getting some shave gear. Last night, two neighbors stopped to see what I was doing outside with a broom. I'm sure they (rightfully) think I'm a wing nut. :)

I hope things are getting better for you, my friend. You guys have sure had a rough time. Thankfully, you were well-prepared.

  14. Clearing walkways here is not only thought to be considerate it's also the law. They're supposed to be cleared within 24hrs although I've never heard of anyone actually getting a ticket. Ours doesn't usually melt in a few hours though.
