Toyo 777 5/8
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Jelly ASB
Brut Black - Spray Cologne
Hadn't used the LaToja yet.....and here's the perfect reason I'm on a NB '21: It was purchased from Italian Barber on 11/29/19, and had just been put off in the cabinet waiting, too many other soap options/purchases along that time that are chosen before this little guy. Originally
@clint64 inspired.
Hot water towel on the face to start (my usual), then a thorough scrubbing of the LaToja shave stick over 24 hours of growth. Aroma is pleasant, reminds me of baby shampoo/powder. Very warm and damp soak for the EVO knot, and off to the races building a nice slick face lather. First outing....not as thick and rich as I'm used to with other shave soaps/creams done via a bowl lather, but still very good volume and loft, slightly wetter like I want for a straight razor shave. First pass with the Toyo 777, WTG all over, LaToja provides plenty of residual slick with a nice face feel. Second lather....I scrubbed the face again with the shave stick, added some water to the brush, some more vigorous pressure and swirling....Voilá, lather volume and consistency I'm used to! Same results for the 3rd lather, super slick and smooth shaving results, no crimson issues at all. Palmful of PAA's Star Jelly after shave balm confirmed no irritation and nary a missed shaved spot. Finished with a vintage cologne, Brut Black.
Fragrantica Description: Brut Black by Brut Parfums Prestige is an aromatic fougere fragrance for men. Top notes are Anise, Citruses, Lavender and Basil; middle notes are Floral Notes and Spicy Notes; base note is Woody Notes. My nose definitely gets the woody/spicy/citrus....don't know that I've any after shaves or colognes with Anise (described as a licorice fragrance), but blended with the other notes listed, Anise lends a slightly aquatic feel to this Faberge blend like a couple of Nautica's colognes.
Hope everyone has an awesome Friday!
