  1. I feel the same about my Feather AC.

  2. Nice shave Patrick! This is just my opinion, but blades and razors don't always make a nice fit. I am sure you will use different blades in the Fatip to find out what works best for that razor.

  3. That would be quite a Mad house!

  4. Awesome shave Bill! I have never tried the glycerin soap of Col Conk. I have seen videos of others using it and it does provide a decent lather. For a couple of dollars on a puck, you can not go wrong.

  7. Oops. That would have been me missing that detail. Didn’t remember the scales were also different between the two versions, it’s been so long since I removed them from mine.

  8. Thanks Joe. The blade crapped out early compared to the one in the Red tip. Shaved great last time on the face but was losing strength on the head . I think I'm going to start documenting what works with what now that I have so many blades and razors .

  9. Nice looking combination & shave Myles!

Great details and combination Patrick. Good call on the blade switch.

Super setup Bill! Inexpensive doesn’t equal poor results, awesomeness!

  10. Thanks Joe! I try to analyze my shaves as to why they were not on par for me.
There were a number of factors:
    1. Operator error. I used a little too much pressure to compensate for the stiffness of my dome bristles. If I would have used a shave soap, then I would not have the pressure problem.

    2. It was a fresh Personna Headshaper blade. I should have shaved my face first to "dull" the blade before the headshave.

    3. It was the first time that I videod a headshave which is difficult to do with a cell cam. I had to turn around to get into position so that my posterior head area would be seen. It's easier when you are in a set position facing a mirror without moving around. Yes, I shave the back of my head by feel, but the unfamiliarity of the video session played a small part in the operator error.

    4. I used my bowls filled with water to rinse off the Cremo and hairs, but it did not work. I had the razor still having bits of hair and Cremo residue as I was shaving. I realized why I wasn't getting a good glide, and compensating with pressure. It was late in the game when I used the faucet to clear the razor.

    5. I haven't headshaved with a straight in awhile.

Mind you, I am not making excuses, but these are the insights that I came to realize in retrospect. To improve one's technique, I feel it is important to ask oneself why the shave did not go smoothly.

  11. i have 2 pucks of Col.Conk soap.it's average imo compared to others..fine lather and does the job.but i have a 10+ year history with modern williams as my one and only..it does the job as well.if that's your standard that's fine..since using superior products the last 4 years it pales in comparison imo..i would never source it out as a replacement.
would rather be a full time tabac user..which is ok as well..:)

  12. My post was never meant to be a full blown endorsement of Col Conk. In fact, I am meh about it because the scent strength is light according to reviews. I also don't care for soaps that don't have containers to assist you in loading the soap. I would buy the soap to satisfy my curiosity, but that is it. I agree that there are better soaps out there, but Col. Conk does have its niche in the shaving community.

  13. It isn’t as thick as I thought it was? :)
    Okay, done.
Good point. I recommend not breathing deeply around the ‘Tragic Trio’- Arko, Clubman and Tabac, however.
