Yeah, I'm pretty excited. I've already cleaned out my locker except for my hardhat, steel toe boots and Nomex. I'll take care of that Monday. They can't take my badge or I wouldn't be able to get back out!

Thanks, Joe! Gromit should know better! He did it because I’ve been ignoring him lately! Our sump pump died during this snowmelt. I discovered that my wife’s prior spouse hadn’t hooked up the battery backup, nor checked it; it was dead. So I’ve been cutting up waterlogged carpeting and liner, bagging it, and then lugging it upstairs to the garage to arrange pickup with our waste mgmt company. Then I had to purchase and install a new AC powered sump pump along with the new DC backup pump and hook it up to the new battery. I’ve decided that I’m installing another set of pumps on the other side of the basement, but my family’s refusing to let me do the work! My Parkinson’s sort of got out of control after I finished the first job. SWMBO’s put her foot down about my being downstairs with the contractor. The last two left in frustration after we disagreed about tooling, location, and their insistence on using their pumps. I pointed out that they either install the ones I purchased from the same plumbing supply they use, or take a walk. They decided to walk! The compromise is that Ben will do the installation because he doesn’t want shaky old me me anywhere near the pneumatic drill! The danged thing about getting old is that folks somehow associate lack of ability with it! Sorry to vent, my friend, but it is what it is!
