I still think a better bowl would have added value to this soap....
Even one like the one from Cella, which sells for very little money.
But, perhaps, what I really like is its scent: a leap back in time, when I was a child and this was, more or less, what I smelled in the perfumeries where I accompanied my my mother.

I was fascinated by all those little bottles, some, as I would discover later, by Lalique that continue to fascinate me as they did then.
Beautiful...

Also beautiful is the essential razor design, one of the few modern ones I have.

And Etta James looked great in it.

Thank you Doug. I love Mike's soaps. They just flat work for me. This Vetiver is just a straight forward Haitian Vetiver without any smoothing down. It has a wonderful earthy smoky scent. If you like vetiver you'll like it. If you don't like vetiver then I would pass this one by. Another one to consider is Mike's Orange, Cedar & Black Pepper. It is a fantastic scent that I will certainly buy again.

Tabac Tuesday with both Tabac soap and Aftershave. Lathered with the classic JR 177 brush and shaved with the King C Gillette razor and blade.

After 14 years of this, after $$thousands$$, and after all the wonderful shaving experiences, perfect shaves, outstanding scents, textures, and 'hairsplitting' differences between everything.
This shave is in my top 3.

and whatever razor that has efficiencies that match your mug

Razor: Eveready Streamline 2nd Gen- MFG 1949-53, mid upper range, nice looking razor with great results today.
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE (6) excellent blade, very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely & predictable.
Soap: Cyril R Salter Indian Sandal wood cream, nice scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Tuxedo knot excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, great scrub + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: Proraso with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers = excellent shave with my Everready streamline with a coated gem blade.
