Day 2 of my son’s quarantine extravaganza! My little man is still sleeping, good for him. I have my normal teaching responsibilities plus to Google Meets with parent’s to discuss plans for their lovelies for next year.

Today’s shave featured my first custom razor, the Drew Duck Damascus, as it was it’s turn in my straight razor rotation. I decided to incorporate a fourth pass, ATG ala @Keithmax, since I had the time today. There really was no need but it was a what the heck type of decision. I guess the next few days staying home with my quarantined son is a practice run for next September when the MOLC begins in earnest. Even though I am retiring at the end of June, this summer will not be any different from the past 41.

The resulting shave was just plain awesome. Finishing it of with an Old Spice Dupe was just icing on the cake. As long as I can remember, fortunately that has not deteriorated as of yet, I have fond memories of my grandfather wearing it and have love the scent. To me, it is a classic, clean and refreshing scent that brings a smile to my super smooth mug.

I hope you have a great day gentlemen.

    Shave Cream & Aftershave

Thursday already. This week is flying by very quickly. Back with the La Toja shave cream this morning. I did add some B&M Terrorade to the brush while face lathering which gave a chill that is still going. Three passes and touch ups ended in another BBS shave. I did get a weeper while vigorously buffing my lower right neck. The AS-D2 is mild but not that mild. A splash of La Toja aftershave and I am off to a client site for the day. It is will be a mad rush through Monday the 15th which is the first big tax deadline of the year. Wish me luck. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
  8. Thanks Joe, this is V1 which was Oleo soap base with Ethos' scent and skin food EOS complex. (Collaboration they did) Ethos has his own base now and his website is up with many scent choices and growing. Dragonsbeard will be a seasonal release I believe each fall so no more of this soap till then although the Skin Food Splash and EDP are in stock.

    Terrific Tatara Thursday.

You may notice something a little different about the Nodachi this morning. More on that down in the post.

Excellent lather by the T3 Trafalgar. Very nice two pass shave with one touch up on the jaw line. Just a hint of alum in a few places. A little witch hazel followed by dome Scottish Antique by Andy Hilfiger.

Now onto the Nodachi handle modification. Yes....I cut 3/4 of an inch of an inch off of the handle last night. I polished it out last night and shaved with it this morning. The handle is now 3 1/4 inches in length....a 1/4 of an inch shorter that the Masamune handle. The razor handled sweet with the shorter handle. I brought it in to work today and lightly bead blasted the end and the finish matched up nice.

    Happy Thursday to everyone.

    Sorry for all the pictures.

    Santa Maria Novella~~Simpson X3~~1908 Gillette/Voskhod~~Jovan Musk Oil
I am feeling pretty good about using the SR after today's shave.
Bowl-lathered for the first time in quite a while.

You are looking at the last, remaining shave cream in my den. The others are gone...all gone.
This one's special and is a pleasure to use, so it's staying.
Please give a warm welcome to Vault Boy, who has been cooped up in Vault 101 because of the global pandemic.

He barely could see, because of the intense glare coming off of this lather.
The blade today was a fresh Voskhod, and while I usually rank them second behind Sharp Star,
this one really shone in conjunction with the Old Type.
Maybe there is something to certain blades performing better in specific razors. :signs002:
Followed the traditional three-pass order, finishing with an additional WTG pass.
BBS results, and what's more important, no irritation on the neck and superlative smoothness.
    I finished with a
quirky scent, one that doesn't see much usage:
    Jovan Musk Oil.
