  2. STIRLING SHAVE
    Monday March 15, 2021
    Razor: Stirling Stainless 316L ST
    Blade: Wizamet (1)
    Brush: Stirling Synthetic
    Soap: Stirling Deton-8
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Stirling Deton-8
    Fragrance: Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb

Well I took the Stirling out for a spin today and it was a flashback to the pass around as soon as I took the 1st stroke of the razor wtg. I Chose to purchase the ST head which although being called Standard Aggressive is anything but standard. If you're a beginner shaver it ain't for you and Rod makes that clear in his description on the site. He doesn't advertise the gap which from the pic you can see is huge even on the ST head. I agree that there is more to consider than gap. This razor has it all set for aggressiveness in geometry, gap as well as positive exposure of blade. I had regrets that I didn't get the full set and so reached out to Rod who is setting me up with the HA head as well. That said during the shave and feeling the big gap with positive blade exposure I wondered what I was thinking about adding the HA. Hey, a guy needs the whole set and I may use it also at times...............Maybe. At pass 2 I was feeling my face and thinking I really could/should stop and skip the Against The Grain pass......................................Nah, let's go for it. I knew if I didn't I wouldn't be happy with the results later in the day. I may try a 2 pass on another day and see how it goes, but today is a 12 hour day and I want to feel good throughout the whole day. I have to say I got an extremely close and smooth shave with just a tad of tenderness felt. Would I reach for this razor often? Probably not. Am I glad I got it? A resounding YES !! Will it stay indefinitely in the den ? I have no idea [IMG] The Stirling Deton-8 is a Spicebomb dupe and I LOVE this scent. As Tim would say about the day and week, "Let's Kick this Pig!" Have a stupid fun day Everyone !!
Sorry about the poorly focused pics. Best I could get it to take.......

    Shave Soap & Aftershave

I can't believe it is Monday already. Weekends are just too short. I will be using the potato peeler all week. I pulled out "The Dead Sea" soap. I absolutely love this scent with its herbal/mineral note. It does make me think of being on a hot beach in the Med. Three passes and touch ups ended in a drama free BBS shave. A splash of "The Dead Sea" aftershave and I think I am ready for the mad dash of the first tax deadline of the season. In theory it should be a day of tying up loose ends and filing extensions. I am almost certain it will be more than that. I hope everyone has a fantastic Monday.

Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Soap and Splash

I felt the need for a little Stirling this morning. The RR 400 made easy work of the Stirling.

Three passes with the Yaqi and I'd call this shave a BBS. No nicks or cuts and the alum was quiet. If you like a light weight slim razor then this razor is for you.

A little witch hazel and matching splash and I am smooth and smelling good.

Yaqi sent me a tracking number but I don't know if they are sending just the top cap, razor head or complete razor. We shall see.

Take care everyone and I hope your Monday is great.

  16. Thanks, Evan! I was a victim of a stressed out bride, who after working me like a dog all week with heftin’, totin’, shredding, and going on seemingly endless trash trips, seemed surprised I sounded tired! She’s a good woman, just stressed out over losing the man who raised her. It’s nice to be home! Love the beautiful handle! Thanks! I'm debating whether to do a synth or a Manchurian badger. Migraines are stress-related! You need to slow down, my friend, so you can grow old and curmudgeonly like me and have the pleasure of being mothered by a strongly maternal spouse! :D
