Great shave summary with your usual, awesomely lit photo! Great lighting in your photos! I know, I know, it was an accident of the item placement or something, you humble Canadian guys are really something!
He’s definitely developed some skills! Before he reworked the RSO and transformed it into a razor, I was ready to toss it. It wouldn’t hold an edge through a shave. After two heat treatments coupled with quenches in a high carbonized oil, that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer.
Thanks, Danny! He first heat treated and quenched in mineral oil. The second heat treatment was longer and the quench was in some special oil called Park’s. All I know is that the dang thing wouldn’t hold an edge through the shave, and now it does!
Thanks Jeff you as well, gotta drive to pt today hopefully I'll be home before anything gets sketchy with this weather.
Actually, Joe, he transformed a RSO into a razor through two heat treatments that killed the original edge which wasn’t much to speak of anyway! I reset the bevel on a 1k Chosera and then polished it up on a Shapton progression through 30k. Before the heat treatment the dang thing wouldn’t hold an edge through a single pass. After Ben finished, and we rebuilt the edge, it now shaves beautifully!
Super shave and timepiece, Jason. I am so glad you have the SARB033. It is a classy watch, and it is truly a strap monster. It looks great on your wrist, 'specially with them fancy shirts you wear. I truly got the better end of the trade (which is tied to completing my NB). I will debut some wonderfully handcrafted items for my shave den after my NB is complete. Thank you, my friend, for sharing your special talents with me. I probably should PM this question; however, I'm sure you won't dare embarrass me in front of the entire 30DC...so here goes... Would you consider honoring my extraordinary kindness and geneoristy with 60 consecutive Tabac shaves in 2022? I normally wouldn't make such an outlandish request, but Canadians are known for their extreme kindness and thoughtfulness. That goes double for the ones with the fancy shirts and watches.
Thank you Jeff. No, SWMBO has commented that she prefers my head with about a two days growth on it. That would be what I usually wind up with when I use the barber shears.
Thank you, Dave! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Jason. This handle is the Barber Pole. Fairly heavy. Thank you, Jeff. I appreciate the prayers.
I just don’t get hillbilly logic! You compliment and extol the man’s skills and good nature, AND THEN propose punishing him for 60 days by destroying his olfactory nerve and possibly his marriage as well? Go figure!
