  8. Thanks Dave! We are going to be in the 50's today. According to the 10 day forecast, we will not have snow. It is safe to assume that we don't have to worry about snow until next winter.

Happy Monday. Another weekend that was entirely too short. I decided to go with the Pils razor this weekend. This is another "mild" razor like the Feather AS-D2. Both have a narrow sweet spot but are very efficient when the correct angle is used. I am starting the week off with the Simpson Trafalgar T3 before switching over to the Omega Roma Colosseum. The big T3 did a wonderful job face lathering the La Toja shave cream. The T3 does require some effort to get the brush to splay. Three passes and touch ups ended in a BBS shave. I did get one small nick setting the razor down to quickly. A splash of La Toja shave cream and I am off to a client site for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

  12. No. I was under the assumption that they were still doing virtual classes on Monday so I did not set the alarm. I was called in to work, but I woke up at 6:45 and so I got the message too late. Texted back and explained the situation and told them that I am available for the rest of the week. The asst. principal was cool about it.

  15. Well Joe @Trigger messaged me sometime last week saying he wanted to send me his fat boy. Everyone’s generosity here amazes me, again I don’t know how thank you all enough. This hobby would not be the same without having our fellow shave brothers around. This morning’s shave was absolutely great. The vintage seaforth shave soap gave an excellent lather and provided a perfect amount of slickness for good blade glide from the Gillette Fat boy. 3 pass shave, BBS, no irritation or nics. All without the assistance of the alum. These Rockwell blades are some excellent blades as well, very smooth yet sharp. Finished off the shave with PAA diver down aftershave. Smells absolutely amazing. A little bit goes a long way with this stuff. Hope everyone has a great Monday!

  18. Excellent shave Myles! Glad you enjoyed the 1961 1st qtr Fat boy. May you have many great shaves with it. The Rockwell blades are mid range aggressive and work well with my beard and skin type. I am glad you like the blades. I have gotten up to 8 shaves on the blade, but usually bin them after 5 shaves. Have a great day!

SOTD MONDAY MORNING, MARCH 22, 2021

This morning I woke to a bright sunny morning in the Philadelphia suburbs. Effective tomorrow, the bride and I will be at the height of our resistance to the Covid virus as it will be two weeks since our second Moderna jab. Woohoo!!! After yesterday’s amazing shave with my new artisan masterpiece, ‘Bone Mosaic’ by Victor Creazzi, it was definitely time to go old school vintage. Today’s shave featured my two hundred year old H. Hobson Sheffield wedge 6/8 and the Gibbs #17 Adjustable, a very popular French safety razor in production from 1938 to the mid 1950s.

The mug full wedge straight shave was quite a contrast to my shave yesterday with Victor Creazzi’s full hollow grind. There was no ‘Buttering Toast’ refrain this morning. The wedge sheared through my whiskers in almost a spooky silence, quite a contrast to yesterday’s shave. Nevertheless, old man Hobson easily held his own in comparison, and delivered a dolphin smooth three pass mug shave. The dome shave was every bit as good. It’s my practice to shave all my adjustable safety razors wide open. This morning’s noggin shave confirmed why so many love this little French Adjustable, just no nonsense two pass ATG perfection that topped off a wonderful velveteen smooth refreshing shave.

RAZOR: H. Hobson Sheffield Wedge 6/8 (Mug), Gibbs Adjustable #17 (Dome)
    BLADE: Modified Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Gold Anodized Aluminum Monster Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Alt-Innsbruck AS Splash.
