  12. I just ran across my first watch no-buy thread.

The rules are fairly specific. This group allows for a fall from grace using the one in/one out rule. An existing watch must be sold/gifted to make room for one that got purchased. That makes sense to me, even though that's not the agreement here with our distinguished, yet fanatical, Canuck rule enforcer and wearer of fancy shirts and watches.

Another rule that I like: "Bashing* of any potential purchases is mandatory, but let's keep it funny. Nuclear level bashing is required for any actual purchases." People with fragile egos are warned to stay clear of the thread. :D

Sounds like a fun group. Will I participate?

    Greetings,

    Early morning shave,

Later this morning i have to go for my yearly works medical before i return to work on the 6th April.
Yesterday afternoon i had my first AstraZeneca Jab, which was the most painless injection i have had to date. Like most people on planet earth, i don't like needles or injections but this one didn't affect me at all...I had no threatening adverse effects after having the vaccine apart from feeling a little bit shivery and tired, but today i feel fine apart from my arm feeling slightly stiff which i was told "is the norm", and will be ok after a few days...

Back to the shave...Last outing of the Lord platinum blade has been consistent throughout the week...Another good blade from the Lord camp that i will add more frequently to my blade rotation...The Gillette Tech is a remarkable in-expensive razor that i will always have in my shaving den.

Another enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable acceptable shave with no errors to report...A great shave to finish my shaving week of in style...Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of Gummy ~ Turkish Lavender Cologne.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

  16. The Top Performers

I’ve been on longer hours at work causing me to develop more scruff than I usually walk around with. I did find time for a rare evening shave yesterday.

I often pick up the Feather Artist Club tool for low maintenance quick shaves. It was loaded with a Feather Pro on (3). It still effortlessly severs facial hair. I will use a Feather Pro Super blade every so often to remind myself of what The King of Sharp feels like.

I was thinking about how these are ground at a triple compound bevel. I’ve never seen a video of the manufacture of this type of blade but must assume the bevel grinds are done with wheels. Hmmm, that makes this edge to be developed and refined by a convexed surface in my book. Ever so slightly, but still a hollowed bevel.

In light of the clearly superior performance of a replaceable blade barber’s razor over true straights, I always bring out the Rasior Sabre “My Fine Steed’ for a reminder.

For me, everything chases these 2 pieces and finishes at best 3rd.

I split the shave in an alternating fashion and finished at the top, just where I would have been using either piece alone.

I’ve seen a few ‘Steeds’ around recently. They are remarkable tools finished from an antiquated repeat die stamping process not used for decades that enables a tremendously thin, strong and flexible final product. One can expect this process to yield a less uniform starting point than more modern methods. No whining allowed if it is bendy.

Mine still sports the edge given by the hands that made it. Is it as efficient as a shavette? No. Is it better than any other true straight I’ve ever used regardless of who honed it? Yes.

At one point I thought we may have seen the last of these. I do hear a few more examples are inbound. I don’t need another, but will probably get one because I like to double down on my faves.

  18. Terrific Thursday shave Barry! I have the Arko tub and Omega Pro 49 in my den and they are great items. I don't have a problem with the a
Arko scent. It lathers easily and it is quite slick. The brush is a great performer, but it does lose bristles from time to time. Have a great day!
