Love the smiling razor, Joe. Every time I see one it puts a grin on my face. Excellent shave and take care.
Thanks, Joe! I’m just about where I want to be vis a vis my straights. I’ve unloaded a few from my barter period. I find myself shaving with pretty much the same 14 or 15 straight razors. That’s turning out to be true of my safety razors as well. I’ve been slowly unloading them either through sales or PIFS.
Initial thoughts on the Private Oud: I DID get some freebies! They are samples of-Khateer, Shagraf Oud, Shagraf Oud, Aswad, Oud Maknoon(@Primotenore , I believe you have this one??), and Dhen AL Oudh Malaki. Each one small but POWERFUL. You spray these on. The Private Oud itself does come with that vial for pouring(dripping?), I can see getting that one onto my WRIST, but the neck will be a challenge. More to come later as I put'em to use.
April 9th Fat Friday Razor: Gillette 195 Adjustable D3 Blade: Gillette Nacet Brush: Rubberset 400 clone SS: MWF AS: Adidas The Fatboy did okay. The brush is new and needs defuncting. The lather was good. The aftershave was nice. My wife and 3 youngest are visiting her parents. My 17 year old is babysitting me. Have a great weekend.
Bidding on a Weber razor just ended on E-Bay. Sold for $280.00 plus shipping. Thought y'all would find that interesting.
Jason the Chubby 3 does have a bigger knot than all the others with a handle in between T3 has a handle height of 50mm with a knot of 26mm with 50 mm loft CH2 has a handle height of 44mm with a knot of 27mm with a 50mm loft CH3 has a handle height of 48mm with a knot of 29mm with a 55mm loft I am looking forward to giving the Chubby 2 a go. It will be interesting how it compares to the other two face lathering.
Thank you Jason. I can safely say the Fat will be repurchased when this one is done and dusted. I have grown to really like the stuff.
Excellent shave lineup Evan. Enjoy the time with your 17 year old. Maybe she won't be too tough on you as a babysitter.
Yes around $70 or a little less. A big deal was made about the "wavy blade" issue just before they stopped making razors. ATT was the one that killed them. ATT was machined and available in 3 different blade gaps etc.
Love that smiling blade, Joe! I can't tell for certain from the pic, but it looks like SanMai pattern-welded Damascus. I shaved with a smiling blade today as well.
