  1. Jim, great shave and photo as usual. If you limit your shave outings to one week per razor, you could easily make it to the end of this year w/o a problem! After all, you don’t need that new shiny 316L SS razor from Stirling. :D

  2. Fantastic photo Jim. The Copper Ascension razor is just cool.

  5. Lovely fragrant GC shave and review, Maestro! I ordered the Wolfman, but agree with you that the value proposition in light of my new focus on straights didn’t work for me. So I backed out back in October when I had the chance to order one. I have more than enough excellent safety razors. :D

  6. That's what I say about my Barbasol.....time for a new one, or I may try Gillette Foamy.

  7. Thanks, Joseph! She moved in back in the beginning of the plague. She’s a new thirty-something hotshot professor at Penn and apparently a vegetabletarian friend of the earth. She has never met me, but has decided that I’m a fascist, right wing crazy, which amused the local cop who was forced to ticket me this morning. I know him well as I used to serve on the township council, and always tried to hew to the middle of the road. Oh well, the impetuosity of youth. I was just saving my wife’s cat. I hope he pulls through. :)

  8. Thanks, Jim! I was up quite early with my sore feet and heard the commotion in the backyard. I was able to grab the loaded Browning 12 we keep downstairs for home protection. Turns out it serves as coyote protection as well. The coyote had Mitten by the throat. I hate those dang things. Rushed poor Mitten to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Still waiting to hear. They took him right into surgery. Lauren’s very upset! :(

  9. Thanks, Dave! I’m not too worried; I’ve lived in the township for 43 years. My concern is my wife, who adores that cat. :(

  14. April 12th
Canadian NEW LC w Nacet (3)
    Oumo flattop/Rubberset 400 #3
    SV Desert Vetiver
    Thayers
    Fine Fresh Vetiver

I shaved early this morning after not shaving over the weekend. I was under the weather, to be honest. Well enough today, at least. This Oumo flattop is an interesting knot. Tall and thin, it isn't floppy, but yet doesn't really seem overtly scritchy either. 2nd use of it, and it doesn't drop hair or seem funky. Unlike other boars I have, but so far I like it. The lather was the usual excellent SV lather in a fave scent. The NEW did an outstanding job of mowing down 72 hours worth without incident.
Maybe a little left on the jawline, but that would be a pretty harsh critique. Finishing with the now-discontinued Fresh Vetiver was a fine idea.
    Have a great day all!

  15. Great looking shave Jeff. I’m sorry about your cat. You would have gotten a pay on the back in Tennessee for shooting the coyote.

  20. Thanks, Clint! We used to allow hunting in our township when I first moved here in ‘79. As development grew, lots of urbanites moved in, and one of the first things to go after Columbine was hunting, followed by a new gun ordinance prohibiting firearm discharge. My new neighbor has apparently been feeding the coyotes. I think I scared her this morning. My old hunting buddy next store who I got the F Type from, has proposed a little vermin reduction in our neighborhood, all tongue in cheek. I wonder how a pile of coyote carcasses on her front doorstep might sit with Professor Vegetabletarian Friend of the Earth? :D
