No, they’re actually an unusual piece of elephant, the last piece that I got before the interstate ban. There was ‘bark’ on the exterior of the piece and some of the lines were left. You can’t feel most them with a fingernail and there is some color to them too. The Schreger lines are great though hard to see in the SOTD image.

Oh, and apologies for the ‘dirty’ fingernail, that’s actually black cashew lacquer!

I have one set of Elephant blanks left from the old days that I will put on one of mine sooner or later, maybe when I find that perfectly curved Saito hehehe

Not the best razor I have, the blade is really thin a delicate to hone.

Tom, you’re a man after my own heart with that old frameback!

Hans, I have an E. A. Berg Fagersta Martin, I’ll try to post an image later for you.

Unrestored Gen 1 Filarmonica 14 JMP Rejoneo, cream and splash were AdP. Really great shaving, super thin blades both of them.

    I would guess mid 1800’s.

Thanks Steve. Just seemed right to leave in this condition and put a Coticule edge on.

And that pair of Fili’s are a joy to see... my favorite scale design. :eatdrink047:

    7/8 Taylor Witness Hollow Ground
    Barbershoppe Num. 2 Boar Hair
    Porasso Pre Shave Cream
    Classic No Scent Shave Soap.

Third time with the Taylor. 1st time was not good. Even though it took off arm hair, the edge needed much more work. 2nd time brought it to a solid C. Still pulled instead of cut. Back to the stones...
3rd time, it performed much better today. Patience with the slow and light honing on the 8K, 12K and 15K stones and a few hundred laps on the linen and leather strop brought this razor to a smoother shave. Pretty happy about this because, after the 1st and 2nd shave I contemplated removing her from the rotation completely.

Like the Maher & Grosh razor, I would grade today's shave a good B. Want to get her to an A, though. So, more time on the 15K as well as the linen and leather strop, perhaps.

Finished with the Witch Hazel cleanse, of course. And today's cologne, my favorite. CREED Green Irish Tweed.

    Cheers everyone.

This razor spent a bunch of time on a Shapton 220 & a worn DMT 325 for chip removal... then figured it could use the comforting effects of a few Coticules. :)
Worth the effort for a very comfortable shave.
