Shaved with the Version II My Fine Steed. A razor with an exceptionally thin grind, but not as thin and flexible as the original which was made from a forging and methods largely abandoned a half century ago. I do like this tool. Just a little less than the original though. Used one of the Stirling soaps laying around and finished up with one of the NOS Avon Tribute Dutch Pipes I have laying around. Ok scent, but not a fave.
13/16" Blade-CeKa Works Barbershoppe Num. 2 Boar Hair Brush Classic No Scent Shaving Soap This is the second hone for this razor. It has a nice mid weight blade. An even edge. Unfortunately, I can't get her to the good shave level. Actually had to switch to a different razor after the first pass. Will redo the edge from the start, again. See if I can get a good shave from her.
Hi Claude. I’m no expert but will share something that I stumbled upon as a good indicator for comparing my edges especially at the initial stage. I had no repeatable or comparable success using hanging hair or arm hair as a gauge. One day fiddling around with my sharpening, I started testing with a ‘push cut’ into one of these foam packing peanuts. (I was always annoyed by them before) Make no judgment on the depth I used in the photo. Visual aid only. Start by evaluating a tool with an edge you like and feel for the energy you exert for a push cut into just the surface. A dull edge will merely collapse inward unless you impart some lateral move of the blade. I found it helped me. Maybe you too. Bill

6/8 Un Named Razor Viking No Scent Shaving Cream Num 2 Boar Hair Brush. I wish there were some way to identify the manufacturer of this razor. It is one of my favorites. Looks like a Swedish/Japanese blade?? She provides an outstanding shave. Giving such a close cut with just the weight of the blade sliding through the cream. Easy to control and comfortable in the hand. A + again.

I would guess that it’s not a Swedish razor. I have never seen a Swedish razor with those “square “ ends on the scales. However I will not take poison on my statement.. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
