Lovely shave report, Bill! I’ve become a confirmed styrofoam peanut test fan! I now use it as a standard test and like it. Just touched up my Thistle Persian which passed the test easily. Touched it up on my Naniwa 12k and Jasper. It’s popping hairs and on deck for tomorrow’s shave. Glad your shave went well!

 

So I’m working on another batch of my bay rum aftershave. Added glycerin and witch hazel to this batch. Unlike the last batch, this time I’ve also added vanilla in this batch which was not in the past ones. It’s only 2 days old but this batch smells much better than the previous batches. This still needs a lot more maturing but with a little dab on my hand, this stuff smells gorgeous. I have to say, this actually smells pretty close to “Derby City, chop shop winter reserve tonic”

There’s just something about the Vector/Proline combo that just delivers for me. The Chubby Scrubby continues to evolve during the break in this month. It just keeps getting softer while maintaining most of its backbone. This is only the 2nd boar I’ve broken in and after over a year of on and off use my Omega just doesn’t do it for me. Its either too scritchy or turns into a limp noodle.

 

I use synthetic stones and finish on Shapton glass 16k or Gokyumo 20k. A friend who shaprens sushi knifes as a hobby gave a finishing JNat. Finally a natural I had success with.

So how does the 'new' M7 compare to orginal?

The floors look fantastic.

I guess I was no completely awake when I took the picture, I left it crooked for your entertainment. The brush and soap dish were created by Jason. The soap dish is Electric Sheep, for me, Electric Sheep outperforms MWF by a British mile. The steel is a Suzuki Niles, never heard of them but this is an outstanding razor, very much in Japanese style for a western grind. For our tenor, I went with Rojo Dove Vetiver for the juice of the day. I bought this bottle used and saved a little money over it usual obscene pricing. My best vetiver perfume, is it work the money????

Great shave, Keith. Roja is a brand that I wish I could add to my collection, as well as Malle. I have a 3ml sample of The Night. The BEST Oud I have ever smelled. The price of that perfume makes Roja look like a bargain. I will use the YSL M7 Oud Absolu for my shave later and make a comparison. Take care.
