Most shaving forums have Buy Sell Trade sub forums. Social media is an excellent place to find razors though I do not use social media myself.

    Good hunting gentlemen.

I should be receiving this custom Art Razor from the Ukraine within a short time. It is 13/8 half hollow.

Thank you Tom! I have a 10/8 Max Sprecher and nickname it the Mad Max. When I finally have the AR 1000 in my possession, I will have a photo of them side by side to illustrate the size of this humungous razor.

Love the look of the covered tang - the black is always a cool contrast to a nice blade.

On the Senator above, did you craft the scales? Very nice, sleek shape.

    And welcome!

I have Honed Many Sheffield Razors as I Live in Scotland..The So Called UK..Wade & Butchers are Nothing Special..The BIG Blades are Sought After and Most of the Big Chopper Blades were Made for the USA Market..I have Never Kept a W & B..I have a Number of Lovely Sheffield Blades that Take a Far Finer Edge in My Humble Experience..That Said..Some of the W & B BIG Blades are Beautiful Big Choppers.:D

So..Dont Let Me Put Ya Off..:angelic007:

My experience is the same as Billy’s. For razors of the popular W&B period, I prefer Joseph Rodgers and Wostenholm.

Thank you for your opinion, and a tangible reason for choosing one, or not!

You have some great feedback from Karl, Billy and Steve, and if I could add on a bit.

I am a fan of old Sheffield’s, both the looks and the history... and some of the old, big choppers can be fun to modify if you get them cheap with cracks... so much steel to play with. :)

If you jump in, lower your expectation’s bar because you may deal with slight twists and “unique” geometry... but that is some of the fun with these pieces. I’m a W&B fan, having close to 50, but that is because there are so many out there, and they cover all the shapes, sizes and grinds.

If we can help assess, don’t hesitate to ask.

    50?!!! Wow!
    That’s cool.
If I come across a good deal on a W&B, I’ll probably grab it.

I just bought this one. I’m stoked to see it. (eBay grab)[IMG]
