I’ll have to give that way a shot. I just kept doing alternating laps until the feedback that I could notice stop changing. No real rhyme or reason. I have a few more acrylic block I got to make a balsa couple balsa strops, I just need to get to the store to get some sand paper and a tile so I can lap them flat. My only goal with honing is to be able to make a sharp, comfortable edge that I enjoy using.

I’m going to have to try that test out. I think I have a box of packing peanuts in the closet. I was trying the thumb nail test but I don’t have the experience to find what I’m looking for with it.

Nice shave. That’s one heck of a blade right there!

If you have a shavette, John, you’ll notice it pops through the surface effortlessly! Your honed edge should do the same! It works really well for me! You can test the full length of the edge and know where you might want to focus continued attention until the full length of the edge pops! Enjoy your day!

You won’t regret it, John! Bone Mosaic passed the styrofoam peanut test right out of the box! I am tempted to get another of his razors!

Thanks John! It was my 65th birthday present to myself. I broke the inch width threshold with it. Now, in a few weeks, I will have a 13/8 razor that will make this one dwarfish.

Thanks everybody for the comments on my shave and I've read through some amazing shaves by y'all. Been very busy and so the like button was my friend today and I finally have some me time. Running out to play some disc golf with a friend which should be fun with a bum shoulder. I'm wearing my overalls just to try and embarrass him. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday and weekend !!
