Only similarity I see with a Vector is the squared off threaded post to go through the blade. Blade slots are in the base plate on the Yaqi and not pins in the top plate like the Vector. There is also a difference in the safety bar. I wonder if Blackland has a patent on the center post?
Not for sure, It's not his invention. Blackland is the first to use in safety razor design. But this solution is used in different industries. Vector is totally different. This chinese homage has just (roughly) similar the shape of the topcap. Not the geometry. Not the material. Not the craftsmanship. It's for a different market. It's for someone who search the first SE razor AC style. And does NOT want / have the budget for. Or, a cheap (in comparison, NOT sure the price will be a couple of bucks) backup / travel option ... in addition to others more valuable razors. And, as always seen into aficionados communities this could be the first step into a new world (SE razors are a little niche!!). Where to find other great ones as Blackland Vector or Colonial Razors General. If this happens, this thread will be an advertisement ... FOR THEM.
The new Yaqi AC Style SE it's coming. Two different razors: • RAMC2103 with brass handle https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002181044531.html • RASB2102 with aluminium handle https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002181092530.html On 26th February should be available in a first batch. Then in the next month as usual via Yaqi shop and dealers. The price could be around £20 for brass one, and £15 for aluminium one. Just a doubt about the handle shape. Very thin, with just 10mm ...
As did I... I wanted the satin finish but I liked the aluminum handle... oh well If somebody wants to swap heads eventually, I might be down! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks great. I had an alignment issue with my top cap. Center post and tab was at an angle. Yaqi has a replacement on the way.
Great shave this morning with the replacement head. The head is on a 1/2 inch piece of Delrin that I machined into a handle. I can only compare it to my Razorock Hawks and it will definitely hang with them and is more maneuverable. This razor punches way above it's price point.
Another great shave this morning with the RASB2102 head. I used a Feather Pro Super and achieved a BBS. Smooth and fun razor that will not break the bank.
I have the same razor on the way(Shipping to Canada is slow with less flights), Looking forward to using it with different blades. I never thought I would venture into AC blades but got the urge to use AC Shavettes and have some Chinese that came with the folding Shavette razor.
I think you will really enjoy it. I first started with the Feather Professionals and really enjoyed it. I then used the Feather Pro Supers and it really amped up the shaves. The Supers are 8 thousands of and inch wider front to rear which will give you a little more blade exposure. Take care.
My razor head is messed up too but I haven't.been able to get in touch with yaqi.. where did you reach them at please.. any help would be appreciated a lot.. thank you.
