Fine shave this morning. The opener of another trifecta-this time Stoylin Sheep soap and Bill Neumann A.S.(Heartwood). Taking the advice of some here, I went 0:40 to load the Sheep onto the Stoylin brush("No-Name"....it does need a name). I'll gradually go for longer as the month progresses. I tried s0mething I hadn't done in a real long time....went North to South on North Porcupine Alley. I wasn't completely satisfied, but it's something I'd like to keep trying. I also went ACR-TG at NW Cactus Nation, and found that to be a success. Need to keep going with that method, too. That's the area of my ingrown hairs. For the closer, I should have been more liberal with the Bill Neumann(Heartwood). I can do that tomorrow(and will), No cuts/Knicks. All in all, a Most Excellent shave.
Joe, I like coolness, but I don't really want face freezing cold. I've got some Glacial Spearmint AS that my son refers to as liquid pain!
Gaithersburg is very close to me. Maryland is a unique state. It has a little bit of everything. The ocean, the Chesapeke bay, lowland swamps, and mountains. It is very beautiful in some areas. Unfortunately, Gaithersburg has been developed very heavily. Funny little note about the Gaithersburg/Montgomery county area. There is a road name Clopper Road. This road was the inspiration for John Denver’s most famous song “Take he home, country roads”. The song needed a four-syllable state name to fit the songs meter. Maryland wouldn’t work, So West Virginia, was selected. Clopper road heading from DC to Gaithersburg, is no longer a small country road, it’s a traffic nightmare.
May 3rd Vintage Plastic DE w Astra SP (2) APShave GELousy SHD/Blue Resin Maple Fine American Blend combo Thayers Another day with this plastic disposable thing. This time for a full 3 pass shave to take care of 48 hours growth. Whipped up a nice (fine?) lather with the oft-neglected American Blend. Love this soap and I find the scent pleasant, but I don't seem to reach for it as much as my other Fines. The usual, quality lather was a good start for 3 relatively early passes. This razor really is fine for what it was intended. The Head is a fine design and is quite instinctive to find the zone, actually. If you want to be perfectly smooth, though, you are going to have to be willing to buff a bit more than I did. It is just so, so light. Literally, just like the lightest cartridge disposable you've used. There was a small weight added to help, but it came loose and is more of a distraction than anything. Onto something more MAYhemmy tomorrow, albeit along a similar vein. Have a great day all!
Thanks,Danny. Yes, it was a busy day, but very enjoyable. The wether was perfect, once the wind stopped. finishing the exhaust system wasn’t to bad, I already had the old one removed. The car sounds really nice now. A little loud , but sounds nice and throaty. Didn’t know a flat 6 should sound that good! Got a little pigging going on, so one day this week, I’ll get the timing light out. I’ll time it, if needed. Going to show my son how to do it. Another lesson I get to teach him!
May Focus XPEC~~PL8~~Game Changer/Wizamet~~Vintage Kouros Went back to the bowl with the XPEC and the results were far better than before. MUCH slower adding water, even though sufficient hydration is key, you can't break the lather. Results below... The PL8 really delivered. This handle is so ergonomic and the knot size is just this side of too big. GC/Wizamet Super Iridium combo continued their run with good, if not excellent results. Small weepers on the ATG neck pass make me wonder if it's the blade or the lather or user error or a combination of all three. Regardless, excellent results and the minor weepers were wiped away with witch hazel and Stirling ASB. For @Keithmax I chose my vintage Kouros. You can just make out the volume in the above picture and you'll also notice that the chrome base is missing from this bottle. Do NOT fear, I have a full bottle in reserve, replete with the bottom chrome base and top epaulets. Say "hello" to my little friend... Beast juice for real men, but I decided to wear it anyway.
