1. Examination of acquired razors, out of the 22 the following was presented:
First the Sheffield razors from top left:
    John Barber
    3 Bengall ( Cadman & Sons )
2 Ganbell, really don’t know if they are Sheffield razors???

    Then the Eskilstuna razors:
    CVH from top:
    MK No.24 3/8” ( my third one )
    MK No.24
Unmarked, must be very old with grey box
    No.4
    [IMG]

Then 3 J.A. Hellberg and one SSA
    [IMG]

    2 Erik Anton Berg
    EDV Neiström
    Klas Törnblom
Emil Carlsson ( first Swedish razor with square end on the scales )

And then the German ones and one unmarked:
    Best Silver Steel
232 Respect ( have I already tried out, nice razor! )
Unmarked ( could be British )

Most of them have a little bit rust pittings, but the edges are fine. Needs a lot of work to restore them. The sad thing is that the razors have been stored probably in a barn or out house, smells quite heavily of mold. Can be removed with vinegar.

Wish you all a nice Valborg ( a Swedish holiday today when we celebrate the spring with big open fire and a lot of alcohol...)
    Regards
    Hans

  4. Very nice score there Hans! If you keep going like that you might get near Billy, lol!

NOS 6/8 Filarmonica 13 Sub Cero (right) joined the stable and is a good companion to my 14 Sub Cero.

  5. Now the next question... did they make a "12" in the Sub Cero... and when is it arriving? :)
    Very nice pairing Steve!
  6. Thanks Tom, Apparently they did. A quick Google-fu turned up this:

  7. Picked this up yesterday. I don’t know much about it but it sure feels nice in my hand. Going to pick up some wet/dry sand paper on the way home and clean her up this weekend.

  8. Thanks Steve, my idea is to restore all of them and keep the ones I like. Then sell the razors I don’t want to keep. Now I have approximately +50.

  10. Thank you Tom
I picked it up cheap, and restored that one for my brother over a year ago, he uses it often, and it’s still sharp.

  12. My dimanche (Sunday) shaver, a M.K. 31-1/2 - lol, a restored M.K. 32 with moderate wear. Soap was MdC rose lathered with a T&H brush with D.R. Harris Pink in the St. Germain bottle finishing up.

  13. Clauss
    "New Departure Razor"
    11/16th
    Full Hollow
    Freemont Ohio

A little restoration needed. The spine has some wear, but an extra layer of tape should solve that.

  14. Shumate Cutlery Corp.
    TungSteel
    "No850"
    St. Louis MO USA
    5/8+inch
Extra Hollow Ground (and Smiling from the factory)

This has some light tarnish about, but very little. The spine looks new, and the bevel looks factory. Once cleaned up, it should look factory new. It still has the factory papers with it, in the case. I've never seen one with a brass Anvil emblem on the scales before.

  15. That is a great blade... love the slight smile and that is a cool emblem/inlay. Nice pick-up Scott.
  16. Thank You.

  17. I really like the ‘mid-America’ blades like Clauss. Good stuff.

  18. I just finished restoring the Clauss "New Departure". It is a "Bellied Full Hollow" . I just wish the prior user of that razor knew how to hone. A lot of wear on the spine. But, I am sure a couple of layers of tape should tighten that bevel up.

  19. What is a Clauss Mid-America blade?? Pics?
  20. Oh, Clauss was made in Fremont, OH, another razor-making area of the US. I only have one good one, American razors in nice shape are rare.
