I guess Mayhem has turned into a 'plastic razor apparently/actually made for shaving' focus pour moi. Also from
@brit is this Lord disposable (?) shavette. Gary sent me two...and I thought we were friends. Anyway, thought I'd give it a run. Full disclosure- while I've used a CJB Kami (and attempted to use a Sayuri Kami) this is the first folding shavette I've ever tried. Gave it an arm hair test to ensure that it will, in fact, cut and gave it a go.
Whipped up a slick lather from this local soap. Looks like they aren't quite so local anymore (and are now making hand-rendered tallow based soaps) and the soap is certainly slick enough. If you've already figured out that I'm able to type this, then you know the shave didn't go that badly...but I did stick to one pass with it and then a tidying up pass with a Canadian prewar Tech. It has enough weight to it to know that it is there and the blade was sharp enough. I didn't filet myself, but did take a long time on that one pass. I'm not nearly as smooth as I usually am, even with the Tech pass, but it was basically incident free. Nowhere near as sharp as a fresh Feather Pro in a CJB, methinks. I'll probably give it another go tomorrow, if I start early enough to not rush it.
Finishing with the nice Cool is always a good idea.
Have a great day all!
