Happy Friday Everyone. Brought out the MWF for Fat Friday. The big Zenith boar did a wonderful job loading and lathering the MWF. Three passes and touch ups caught the baby. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

I've had some absolutely fantastic shaves over the last month and a half followed by some of the worst, completely due to a rubbish blade.

It's taken me a good three years, but I've finally found a blade which i despise more than the voskhods, in the form of the Dorco ST-300. What an absolutely terrible blade.

The rest of the shaves were absolutely fantastic, the first lot of shaves were with one of my new favourite blades, the Schick DE blades. What an amazing blade, made in Germany. Its a touch less sharp than a feather, but maintains that sharpness for an incredibly long time.

I also decided to go with Arko for Arko April, and with my arko stick being "on its last legs", I decided to give Derby a try. The performance is nearly identical to Arko, except the scent is slightly different, and the stick itself is a bit harder when compared to Arko.

With winter fast approaching, I also switched to my winter aftershave balms.

    Shaves 1-10

    Blade- Schick DE
    Brush- yaqi marble handle synthetic
Soap- Master Soap Creations citrus melody
Razor- Gillette super speed flair tip
    Aftershave- Ego Bahama mist

    Shaves 11-20

    Blade- Schick DE
    Brush- yaqi marble handle synthetic
    Soap- Arko shave stick
Razor- Gillette super speed flair tip
    Aftershave balm- prep

    Shaves 1-5

    Blade- Dorco st-300
    Brush- yaqi marble handle synthetic
    Soap- Derby shave stick
Razor- Gillette super speed flair tip
    Aftershave Balm- prep[IMG][IMG][IMG]

And another shave for which I had a rubber stamp or copy-paste, as it was about the same as yesterday's in every way. Course I was using the same equipment t0day as that of yesterday, except for the Stoylin 26 mm "Pro-Handle"(nicely named, as it LOOKS and FEELS like a Pro). But here's where "Technique Trumps Tools" comes inton play-whenever we use the same stuff for two consecutive shaves, we hope to see improvements in the second shave, but for me they both ended up the same. 0:45 again to load the soap onto the Stoylin, The first pass showed me a drier soap than many other first passes have(shown), which led me to believe I'd be in for a good shave. A.Knick "snuck through customs" at NW Porcupine Alley, but it was quite painless and easily killed by the later administration of the Stephan A.S. That Knick was the only blemish. The rest of the 1st pass, and all of the 2nd, was a beauty. I did leave a little astroturf at the jawline(bordering S. Porcupine and Cactus).Nice finish once again with the Bay Rum aftershave. I then applied the Passion 4 Men cologne at some "pulse points". I'm getting a lot of popups of men's fragrances-well, that's what happens when you order one, isn't it? But back to the shave....Super Duper Excellent

Bill @Edison Carter sent me a smaller one too that fits under the nose nicely but the Gold Dollar is much wider and is the one I need practice on.

Colibri (Hummingbird) safety razor w/plate 1.50mm.
    Astra SP (3)
    Mitchell’s Wool Fat shaving soap
    Razorock 400 synthetic shave brush.
Scottish Antique by Andy Hilfiger cologne.

Another awesome shave with the Hummingbird this morning.

The Razorock 400 whipped up some amazing Fat this morning. It is just hard to beat the Fat.

I throwed the 1.50mm plate in the Colibri this morning and I have to admit that I was a little reluctant. I figure this was going to be the bad boy in the bunch but I was suprised. I tad bit more blade feel than the 1.30mm plate but nothing uncomfortable or excessive. It is a smooth and efficient plate. No drama or blood loss....just a great shave. Three passes for a BBS and just a hint of alum in one place on the neck.

A little witch hazel and Scottish Antique and I'm smooth and smelling good.

The only negative comment I have about the Colibri is the excessive blade overhang on the sides of the head. I don't mind a little but I like to grab the sides of the head to tighten or loosen the handle and the blade overhang makes it very uncomfortable. I took some kitchen shears and trimmed the blade this morning. No more overhang. I do like the narrow head of the Colibri and I don't mind this trade off.

Overall a very well made razor that I really enjoy and is a dream to drive. I will come back and spend some more time with the 1.10 and 1.30mm plates. I need to dial them in a little more.

Happy Friday everyone....the weekend is almost here!
