  6. MAYhem Shave

    .....Kinda.....

I was watching ShaveTV yesterday and found this gal who does face shaves as a men did before the Armpit Face Look became a popular thang. She is very diverse in the shave gear that she used.

One of her reviews was of The Focus R48 Dynamic 1/2DE pivoting head razor. She hated it on the first pass because a techno-mechanical razor does not really require the operator precision of the more conventional shavers. By the end of her shave she indicated that she received excellent results and would be keeping the piece.

I had not used either of my R48 razors since I chronicled my shave journey on videos. So I pulled mine out today for the normal exceptionally close and comfortable results it always easily delivers.

For me, learning to shave with diverse gear included knowing what having daily top tier results was like. My top learning experience was to find the precise shave pattern I needed to use to get that perfect ‘to the skin’ ATG stroke. While nowadays I pick up numerous tools and make those strokes without irritation, back then, I could not. To this day, people love to deliver heat to those who enjoy the use of these type of techno-mechanical shaving devices.

Hence.....do as you please......and as long as you obey The Shave Police there will be no Mayhem.

One of my biggest gripes with the R48 was the possibility of misloading the blade. I saw that the latest model addresses that with new blade position retaining pins, but they adjusted the all aluminum model’s geometry to be slight more aggressive. The new all stainless model still maintains the original geometry. I don’t have the newer one on my shopping list because I am satisfied with what I have....and found new pleasure in my straights because of my other Mayhem generator, unauthorized razor hones.

  7. Sunday's Shave

    RazoRock Lupo 72
    Treet Platinum (1)
    Omega Roma - Colosseum
    Stirling Spice Shaving Soap
    T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Stirling Spice Aftershave

    Spicy Sunday...

The Stirling Spice soap is a new arrival and it lived up to expectations. I had purchased the aftershave a few weeks ago and decided to use a coupon from the Razor Company to buy the matching soap. The dependable, glorious Stirling lather provided a wonderful base for today's shave. I've used Soap Commander's Endurance version of this set about 8-9 times and wanted to test out Stirling's version. They are very similar, as expected, in performance and scent.

Two passes with the Lupo/Treet combo this morning provided a comfortable and efficient shave with no irritation or mishaps. My face is smooth and I am happy with the results.

  17. Using any Stirling soap makes it a great shave in my book Bill! I agree that using different types of razors will make you a better shaver. I find it fun that I can go to any razor on any given day. Have a great day.

Late shave today. The grandkids are on the way over. :happy108:

Awesome lather courtesy of Soap Commander.....good stuff.

Yes gentlemen...that is a Yates razor in the picture. It showed up last week courtesy of and on loan from Dave @Dave in KY . He sent both handles and his modified Nodachi handle as well. He is such a good guy and I vote that we keep him around. :D

The Yates has a look all of it own and is very industrial looking. So how does it shave? Very well I might add. Not a bad first run. Three nice passes with no blood loss. The shave reminds me of the 1.10mm plate in the Colibri.....smooth, efficient with just a touch of blade feel. I like it.

A little witch hazel and some Bourbon and Oak and this one is in the bag.

    Have a great day gentlemen.
