Thank you for the kind offer, Joseph. I'm well stocked, but I have no doubt that La Savonnière du Moulin is a wonderful soap.

    Quick and Excellent evening shave.

Focus R28 Slim Al, GSB (3)

    Stirling eucalyptus mint witch hazel

The Focus R28 barber razor was the inspiration for their Focus R48 techno-mechanical piece an more recent offerings in the full DE area.

I like using this tool. It has a long reach. It is very light allowing good sensation of pressure and cutting, but the low weight does take some acclimation. The design helps get to an ideal cut angle. There are blade corner guards.

I’m using a couple of the different flavor Stirling witch hazels. They add aloe to them and can be mentholated on request. The eucalyptus mint is peppermint and eucalyptus. I like them.

Good for you Myles! My youngest finished his classes last Thursday and is almost an official high school graduate! Time flies! Seems like only yesterday that I brought him and his mother home from the hospital and now he is taller than me and ought to shave every day!

Terrific shave Bill! I would say the R28 is a good shavette for a beginner. Btw, I am not inplying that you are a newbie.

For a beginner, from the Focus products, I’d recommend one of the R21 Evolution models before the R28. The R21 gets to a lower shave angle and is (as far as shavettes go) quite mild in my opinion. I’ve recommended it to a number of folks wishing to try the open edge without the maintenance tasks of a traditional straight.

The R28 Slim Al was actually designed for barbers, is a bit more difficult to use and sets you back about 4.5 times the cost of the basic Evolution model.

I have and like both models. They are a joy to use.

I was looking at the ends of the blade being covered so that a beginner would not have to worry about stabbing themselves with the point.

Thanks Dave. I'm playing catch up ball here - trying to keep up with the crew after a few busy days - and I noticed that Blair (@b1hart) posted some great ideas for me to follow up on.

You know me. I get by with a little help from my friends. :)

Mille grazie Blair! You've given me a lot of good things to think about, and I'm a bit taken aback, although happily so.

As for Halide, I am of two minds. I looked into a few apps a while ago, including Halide, which was already well regarded. For better or worse, I settled on Affinity Photo, where I got in on the ground floor with a sweet deal. I haven't done much with Affinity Photo yet, preferring to stick with the simple, but useful, Apple Photos app. But I recently upgraded from my iPhone 6+ to a loaded iPhone 12PM, so I think the time has come to dive into a more capable photo app. I will do my own homework of course, but my mind is still open, and any thoughts you have regarding Affinity Photo versus Halide would be welcome.

In any case, thanks again for your very helpful reply.

EDIT: The correct app is Affinity Photo, not Serendipity. My bad.
