Happy Thursday everyone. At least this week has gone by very quickly. For today I moved onto my next soap victim, Mike's Bay Rum. I will use it a couple of times a week until it is gone. I pulled not the Katana. I have found I get better results cutting the blade in half. It just seems to be easier to load, especially on the second half. Three passes and touch ups just missed the baby. I did not do a good job buffing my lower right. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Wonderful cool tone to the pic, Clint. I know what you mean about the blade in a Katana. Folding them doesn’t seem to work perfectly u less you cut the corners afterwards. I will try to cut them as well next time. Good idea.

Focus variables today were the razor (Feather AS-D2) and face-lathering the soap.
Stuck with the Klar Kabinett and the Personna 74.
I am trending towards the mild as this razor has one of the smallest blade gaps in my den.
Because of the small gap, the optimal blade-angle is correspondingly smaller.
There are two established methods for acquiring the proper angle.
Either starting on the cap and moving downward, or starting on the bar and moving upward.
Whatever method you use will work, if you pay attention to the feel of the blade against your skin.
It is quite easy to "overshoot" the "sweet spot", so I move slowly---at least I used to when I was still a
The Feather razor has some beef and because I am using one of the smoothest blades ever produced,
I could, with the help of a very slick soap, perform some serious buffing.
The ATG neck-pass was the best so far this month and I was left with zero weepers or irritation.
Tomorrow, I am going to move to my Feather AC and shoot for similar results.

For some reason unbeknownst to yours truly, this perfume is not listed on basenotes.net
There are many such perfumes also absent from their directory.
Luckily, https://www.fragrantica.com is quite inclusive, so those out there that may be budding
fragheads, should bookmark both of these websites.
I am getting a wonderful melange of pepper and rose.
Later, after the scent has begun to dry down, the musk will dominate.
Listed is Agarwood (Oud), however, if you are anticipating a "barnyard" scent,
you will be disappointed.

While "animalic" is listed in the main accords, I don't agree.
This is a lovely rose/amber/musk scent, that'll last you all day.
Speaking of lasting all day, yesterday's frag, for those who follow my posts with bated-breath,

Mix up day.....used Evan's brush handle and MdC's Fougere for a great bowl overflowing lather, super face feel (added a couple drops glycerin) for 3 full passes today. First pass was WTG, north to south all over, then XTG out to in, followed by the opposite XTG in to out. This example from Drew Dick was a razor I used for a rule....so maneuvering is like riding a bike, it just happens naturally, even if I haven't brought this beauty out for awhile. Shaves like butter after a stropping session, very quiet while at work. BBS results, no issues to report. A favorite for some skin soothing, PAA's star jelly after shave balm. It is slightly mentholated (the only aroma) so there's a small reaction that's refreshing.

Finished with a wifey favorite , this EdT is sublime. Awesome @Primotenore enablement from late 2020.

No complaints with the Soap Commander this morning. It is just great solid soap that always delivers.

Three great passes with the 0.84 Gamechanger this morning. No blood loss and just a hint of alum in a few places. I wanted to see how the GC plays out against the Colibri so I went with the Colibri handle to remove that variable.

Finished the shave off with a witch hazel splash and a few squirts of the Royal Copenhagen.

So how does the GC compare to the Colibri? These razor are close with a nod to the Colibri. I think the wider gap of 1.10 makes it a tad more efficient. Both razors are smooth and have similar blade feel. In all honesty it is too close to call. Both razors will not disappoint and are very smooth solid razors.

Slow cooking in the BGE today.

The dips in the BGE temp are when I opened to add some mesquite wood to the coals (which is when I did the image with the probe). The second dip in the BGE temp is a quick open to wrap the brisket for the final 4-5 hours so it doesn't dry out.

I usually follow the Jeff Phillips 'Wooster Brisket' method. He's a competition smoker, has a couple books out, runs the Smoking Meat website and forums.

Wooster Brisket

It is a lot of preparation though, and last time I used it, the brisket was a touch dry for our family's preferences. Today's was just rubbing it down with olive oil, then dousing with the rub. Sat for a couple hours to reach room temperature before moving to BGE. Once it hit 170, I wrapped in foil, left in the BGE til it hit 203 (which is a few over what Jeff's recommendations are). It sat wrapped for an hour before slicing. SUPER juicy and tender, falling apart, cut it with a fork tender. The carnivores said it was one of the best yet. Also....I've come to realize this BGE (XL size) doesn't stay lit under 230 degrees, so I shoot for an average of 250. At 250, it'll run for 8+ hours with little attending, other than playing with the vents. Also, every time the egg is opened, the extra air intake surge....creates a temp spike. The one after 2:20pm...I left the house for an errand. Once back, I closed the air slots a bit, and it somewhat quickly settled to 250 without further intervention. And, not sure why, but I never have the 10-12 hour cook times, even on a full size brisket. The BGE just cooks faster. I'd love to have an offset smoker....but we're out of room in the back unless I make the patio cut into dog's/wifey's plant's territory (and that's a non starter idea).

Thursday shave: Saito SK-3, MrEE handle with a silver tip knot and Queen Charlottes Soaps Iced Lime. Queen Charlottes was my favorite soap maker and this last of my stash. Great stuff. Finished off this epic shave with Creed Himalaya as the temptress were expected to be in the 80s.

TFIG shave: Drew Dick full hollow 6/8 smiler, Cella, Kent BK-8 were my Friday selections. I added some menthol to the Cella so I got some chill along with a very slick soap, this is some great stuff but I can only take marzipan scent so often. Don't know why the Kent brushes do not get much love, it is an excellent brush, not one bit of scritch. Finished this epic shave off with Clubman stored in glass.

Great shaves Keith. I just let go of my last Queen Charlotte in a den reduction and you make me miss it now as it was Iced Lime. GREAT soap but the den HAD to be lightened. Always enjoy your SOTD pics !

I haven't work this week and that is fine. True to form, the district will call me in tomorrow because some teachers want a 3 day weekend. So, I decided to shave tonight. This way there will be plenty of stubble for Max on Saturday.

It has been awhile for a shavette shave so I decided I needed to do one. Stirling brush and the Stirling soap made a great combo to give me an awesome lather.
I really was done with one pass, but did my normal 2.
Epic BBS was the result of tonight's shave.
