  1. Which do you prefer??
Me, I prefer ARKO, because it is fantastic at lathering, is super slick, comes in a stick, and is dirt cheap. I can take or leave the smell. Doesnt bother me.
But, Williams Soap?? I just cant get past the smell.

    Any thoughts??

  2. I don’t mind the Arko smell but I don’t know that I could use it every day.
And to my nose Derby smells quite similar.

Williams I use vintage pucks that have long lost any scent.

If it’s between modern Williams and Arko then Arko wins.

  3. Gotta go with Williams. I get great lathers from it and really really don't like the scent of Arko.
  4. Arko FTW!! If you don’t like the scent, leave it lay out in a spare bathroom opened up for a month and it’ll mostly be gone . It’s one of the easiest soaps to lather. I recommend it to beginners for this reason. Pick up a hammered copper bowl and you’ve got a Turkish Dopp kit .

  5. Arko, it is easy to lather and always works. Williams is hit and miss for me. I even like the scent of Arko, it reminds of me of Lemon Pledge.

  9. Arko; I even like the smell.
  10. After 40+ years of William's I am hard pressed to find a better soap. Arko is okay, but the smell reminds of urinal pucks.

I do know that Williams Soap has a Mosquito Repellent smell to it. Some dont mind it, but its just one of those scents that makes me sick.

  13. They both lather easily for me, so it comes down to scent. If I had to choose, I would choose Williams. It is also available locally, so that is a plus ,too.

  15. While I don't care for the scent of either, I did (yes, past tense. Neither one ever again to grace the shelves of my den.) get always got a decent lather from Arko.

  16. Arko gets my vote. It lathers better, is slicker, and leads to a closer shave. Williams is ok, but Arko is a step up.
  17. arko vs modern williams? arko hands down...arko vs vintage williams tonsorial? hmmn..;)
  18. I should have clarified that I have both Arko and Williams and when I say Williams it is Vintage Tallow as I have enough for my lifetime. Comparing the 2, Arko is to drying to the skin and not nearly as slick.
  19. I don't know if I have a preference but both smell like something you'd use to clean up a crime scene with.
  20. My vote goes to Arko. Easy to leather, clean milky scent, great price. Tallow based, good for a quick clean shave. Compare the price and performance. Arko wins. [IMG]
