Replating question.

    Is it normal to have the centre post showing through the head cap, after plating? I don't recall the original Gillette three piece razors being this way. Why is there a difference? Thanks for your help.

    Some show, some don't. I wouldn't say it's "normal," but it's not uncommon.

    If you really don't want it show, generally you have to braze the top and polish it smooth before plating.

    I've seen this on razors that still have their original plating.

    Hello, it was overtightened so the joint line became visible, there is no real cure for it.
    Plating works like a mirror, it won't cover defects but enlarges them.

    I was bored and just checking out some of my razors and ran across one of my Single Rings. I forgot about this, but as you can see in the pic, it has the same thing as yours. The razor still has all of it's plating....................
