1946 - 48 Gillette Aristocrat w/Bic Chrome Platinum blade.


Used the early 46 Aristocrat last shave. This one is the standard 46 - 48 Aristocrat you usually find for sale when perusing listings. Totally different razor too from the early 46, is more mild but a closer shaver. A razor this mild shouldn't be this efficient, it easily can hang with the big boys and outshave most them. End result BBS finish achieved.

If there was only I could recommend for a daily driver including British variants it would be this one.

i have the standard 46-8 aristocrat set.it is by far my favorite u.s aristocrat and the only one i kept.it's also in near mint condition so i use it infrequently.

DE SOTD, Sat, June 5th 2021

Razor: Gillette reg Super speed flare tip B2-1956 2nd qtr, mild razor and designed for quick shaves, I like a wider Kai blade to give a little extra blade feel. I can get some decent shaves with this razor.
Blade: Kai SS (6) excellent blade, sharp & smooth with great longevity. extra wide by .009 thousands of inch or .0045 per side wider than a standard Gillette for more blade exposure or feel.
Soap: Ogallala Bayrum & sandalwood, I enjoy this clove fresh scent, good lather qualities(slickness is good when wet)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Moka express synthetic, excellent lather creator, heavenly cloud like soft tips with a nice scrub + great lather painter. Nice eye candy and reasonably priced on sale when I bought it, I pushed the buy button as usually on sales.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: witch hazel rinse + Ogallala Bayrum & sandal wood (clove) + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: 9/10 or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers =excellent shave with my Gillette SS flare tip with a Kai SS blade.
