Thank you, Danny. No, I took the picture before the shave. It's the Rockwell in the pic. I subbed the Game Changer when I started the shave.
Thanks, Danny. I'll try to take a close up pic of the threads. I'm just not an expert on this. I know it won't tighten down completely. Not sure how it could strip anyway. Maybe tightening it too hard for the three years I've had it?
Thanks, Jason. The Sailor is as smooth if not smoother than anything in my collection without being particular about the angle so far at the lower settings. I may skip some settings and go Spinal Tap with it and turn it up to eleven. Sent from my SM-T510 using Tapatalk
They have a slightly flat side from Rockwell. Here's a pic of my Polished 6s and even with the lousy focus you can see the flat side. It's similar to the Blackland Vector stud but less pronounced. So your top cap may be fine. See if using a washer will let it snug up and don't tighten it too much.Hope it will work that way or as was said, try another handle. The zamak threads can't take a lot of torque. I didn't know of the difference but Fuzzy says the Bumpless is more aggressive. All Micromatic's are OC but some have 2 bumps on the top of the base plate, under the top cap. Some don't. Mine doesn't and is therefore a Bumpless. Who knew This is a quote from B&B "The bump-less baseplate model was the first MMOC model released. At a later point, GEM introduced a double-edged blade that could be reversed, effectively doubling the life of the blade. Without a spine, this blade would lie flat in the original MMOC and the blade angle would be adversely effected. The bumps were added to ensure that a spine-less blade would be raised at the back at the same angle as a spined blade. At least that's the consensus thinking, there's no definitive documentation to support this but it makes perfect sense. The gimmick double edged SE blade didn't last, but the bumps did. Which is good, because modern SE blades have thinner spines than the original ones, so the bumps still perform a needed function."
Williams Wednesday Shave Wednesday June 9, 2021 Razor: Gillette Techmatic Blade: Band (Setting 1) Brush: Stirling Synthetic Soap: Williams Vintage Stick AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Vintage Aqua Velva Fragrance: CK One Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 945 Did you feel the strange change in the gravitational pull ? Yep, me too. To be safe I grabbed my Techmatic Razor that generally just sits. Hey if it was safe enough for the Astronauts like Mike Collins of Apollo 11, it's safe enough for me. Safe enough and a decent shave but feels bulky and cheap. Still a cool piece of history to use once in a Blue Moon...........see what I did there. For those that don't know it's a band razor meaning it has a blade in a spooled band that when it gets dull, you just turn the knob to advance the blade to a fresh and sharper spot on the band. This model also has the adjustment knob for aggression which I just stick in the middle (Sorry Fuzzy) and roll with it. It isn't an aggressive razor by any stretch of the imagination. Just happens to be where I put it when I got it to see how long it lasts with not needing to advance it. How many shaves so far you ask ? I have no idea as I lost track of the few times I've used it and whether it's 3 or 4. Okay, back to the shelf/drawer or mug it will sit in till next eclipse...........................................time I pull it out. Have a stupid fun day Everyone !
