I'll answer that with a fact. Clubman precludes Stoylin by some 182 years. Clubman doesn't "have to", it just does. Course I just presented an analogy persuasion to what you're talkinabout, Joseph.
Traditional Clubman and Special Reserve ....... Stirling AS and EDT. I enjoy the older scents and the new scents as well. Whether Brisk, Mennen, AV, clubman, Proraso, Avon, Pitralon, Pino, Nivea, Stirling, Fine and etc.
I'm like you......old and new are equally great-but there's something to be said for those that have been here a long time.
My beloved Rise was reformulated by the new "company", but not by much. I still loved the foam(and that was one of the reformulations-what used to be Rise Shaving Cream sudddenly became Rise SuperFoam.)
I think you are right, it is many people, at least the subset of wetshavers on the forums. From what I have seen, they are not so much anti-vintage as pro-cottage industry limited edition razors. The reason is simple: The "boutique" razors are considered more exclusive at the moment. And vintage razors? Meh. Why? Just because. Safety razor demand seems to be rather faddish, and what is "in" at the moment can change with the wind. C'est la vie.
