Friday: cool shower with Nesti Dante Pomegranate and Blackcurrant bar soap TOBS Herbal pre shave gel Q Shave adjustable (Futur clone) 2+ passes Astra S/P (1) Tcheon Fung Sing Tabacco Verde soap Omega boar Thayers Cucumber WH Tcheon Fung Sing 70 A/S This razor is deceptively smooth. So much so that one can easily get over confidant and end up with a slight burn ('nuff said). This isn't the best hard water soap so I spent a little extra time. I let the mug soak in hot water while I was in the shower and then I did a double brush load into a bowl and worked it from there. There seems to be a very fine line between glide and cushion with TFS. Not quite enough water and there's plenty of cushion but if you aren't careful adding water you can easily end up too thin. My post seems to read slightly negative so let me add that I got a terrific shave today.
Friday's Shave Cold Water Rinse Archaic Eureka Shave Soap Jayaruh #217 Gillette New DeLuxe Tuckaway Personna Super (54) CWR Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC The Archaic Eureka Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #217 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette New DeLuxe Tuckaway with a Personna Super Blade (54) gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Friday morning: Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Schick day 12 Stirling Gin & Tonic on the Rocks SS Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill ASB Master Splash Creations Citrus Melody AS Splash I suppose I could classify this shave as a Grand Freeze because although the Gin & Tonic on the Rocks soap is not overwhelmingly cold like a Glacial it’s still pretty chilly and both the Glacial Lemon Chill balm as well as the Citrus Melody aftershave are two menthol atom bombs. The Schick blade is still performing well - it helped to get me as smooth as silk! Have a great weekend - stay healthy and safe. I’m going today for my second Pfizer shot against covid. SE SOTD, Fri, June 11th 2021 Razor: Yaqi Excalibur SE, excellent tame mid range, light weight and very easy to manipulate for a large wide 50mm blade IMO. Good daily driver for some folks. Blade: Chinese blue 50 mm, sharp and smooth, longevity ??. received these with a Shavette ordered months back. Soap: Razorock XXX, nice clean scent when it dry's down + excellent lather qualities. Brush: Yaqi lucky dice 26mm tuxedo knot synthetic, excellent lather generator with cloud like soft tips, great scrub + excellent lather painter. This handle would be ideal for large hands & has good ergonomics IMO. Pre Shave : Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area. Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave: Razorock XXX with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm. Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = Excellent shave with my Yaqi Excalibur SE + a Chinese blue blade. Have some great shaves!
