I would like to be able to say this is great, that is good, this is my favorite... but it all tastes the same to me. Whiskey, bourbon, scotch it all burns going down and has a similar taste. I just dont have that refined taste bud to taste and tell them apart.

Try adding ice or water, some bartenders recommend doing that, saying it causes a chemical reaction that releases enzymes for a better flavor. Personally I think it’s best neat and sipping it just a little more than wetting your lips. The problem for me is that sipping it neat is hell on my acid reflux so I add ice.

My wedding anniversary is Monday (35 Years) and friends that know I like Bourbon dropped this off for me. Nice smooth pour. Nice Spicy Oak and Vanilla. I'd buy it !

Picked up a bottle of Old Tub. Made by Jim Beam, 100 proof, unfiltered, not bad for $20! Would buy again. ;)

Obviously not a bourbon but a fine scotch selection. Islay, so lots of smoke. One of my favorites.

Yeah, this thread is a mix anyway. I'm more a bourbon guy. 1st time I had this I described it as dumping an ashtray into some water and stirring. It somehow grew on me the 2nd time I had it and just a nice heavy smokiness. Thanks

Ashtray into water and stirring. Nice! I took a bottle of this on a fly fishing trip with a bunch of guys and it grew on them. Cigars were part of our evenings which is perfect, but added to the initial reaction.

Enjoyable by the open fire in Winter time. Personally I prefer Highland and Spey side Whisky. Also the Japanese are tremendously good.

Yeah, I can almost taste the iodine and seaweed in it. Complex flavors to savor.

    I like my bourbon cold.
    Not with ice mind you.
    Not watered-down.
Put the bottle and the glass in the freezer.
The next night, pour yourself a shot and enjoy.
I like a martini cold too.
    Not watered-down.
Put the gin and your glass in the freezer, the vermouth in the fridge.
The next night, mix in the glass, add an olive, enjoy.

Freezer-cold Maker's Mark or Cathead Old Soul Bourbon for when I want to enjoy a shot or two, which is rarely. :love055:

Fireball and Coke for when I want to get stupid, which is also rarely. :scared011:

Just not much of an alcohol drinker here. But it happens - especially when I get into my "craving a Bloody Mary" moods - made with Cathead Vodka.
