Just one of those shaves where everything went perfect. Great shave, great scents. Off for 18 holes of heavenly greens & pure bliss. For a golfer that is. Great day and shaves to all….

Razor: Gillette New Long comb, Canadian variant- Mfg 1930's, excellent mid range, nice razor to manipulate the face, all brass and made to last. One of Gillette's finest razors conceived IMO.
Blade: Gillette Wilkinson sword saloon blade(5) excellent blade, Sharp & smooth with some longevity.
Soap: Speick triple milled soap, great mild spicy scent that is not over whelming with great lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi 24mm timber wolf synthetic, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips + nice scrub + great lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups, WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock American barber with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= [IMG] excellent shave with my Gillette new long comb with a Wilkinson coated blade.

@Dave in KY was kind enough to let me use his '47 Aristocrat as I've never had the pleasure of a 'Crat in the den. My plan is to put it up against other contemporaries on hand including the Stahly, Milord, and Shake Sharp. BICs and MDC for the week, beard and head shaves.

First impression of the Gillette is one of great ease. I find a pretty nice balance of blade feel and efficiency, handling is faultless and, and finding the effective angle and pressure is a piece of cake with perfectly adequate audible feedback.

The Stahly (with Tibam handle) on the other hand provides virtually no audible feedback or blade feel, and thus can be very tricky to find the optimum angle and modulate pressure. Indeed, though I am very experienced Stahly user it's not unusual for me to nick myself on the back of my head from applying too much pressure in the wrong spot, not something I typically do with other mild razors.

The two passes on the beard were a pleasure with both, easier to get the angle under the nose with the Aristocrat but both did well ATG on the tricky chin and moustache areas. I would declare the 'Crat the winner based upon ease of use. Post shave I give the Stahly and very slight edge in closeness (very).

More of the same on my mostly ATG head shave but here the Artistocrat had a bit more trouble, or rather I had a bit more trouble with it. Finishing the pass there was noticibly more residual stubble on the right (Gillette) side of the crown, the trickiest spot in my shave. Just to make sure the Stahly wasn't advantaged from being assigned the left side, I took to clean up with the Stahly and it did handle that stubble easier (with considerable focus on angle and pressure).

Since I make the rules no need to declare an overall winner but slight edge to the Crat on the beard and Stahly on my head.[IMG][IMG]

Some small razor love today. This Lund is Saturday of a four day set. They are what I call midi in size - 9/16 and 2.75” in length instead of the standard 3”. But an edge is an edge regardless of how much steel is behind it and Saturday provided a very efficient and smooth shave :happy036:

    Argan Oil PSO
    Shavemac 2-Band Silvertip Badger
    Castle Forbes 1445 Shaving Cream
