Sunday Schick Shave, June 20th 2021

Razor: Golden 500 Schick injector with Hydro magic-Mfg 1957-64, great long handled injector(unisex?), longest razor in my rotation that is 5 3/8inches length. Once in a while it is good to step out of the comfort zone your use to and try something like a long handle razor IMO.
Blade: Personna SS PTFE (10) excellent blade, very sharp with excellent longevity, smooths out nicely & predictable.
Soap: Razorock Don Marco- nice citrus scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi 24 mm Tuxedo knot(Sagrada Familia) excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice scrub + great lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock Amici with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = [IMG] Excellent shave with my Schick Golden 500 with Hydro magic injector complimented with a Personna coated injector blade.

    Today's moment of zen featured...
    • Occam's Safety Razor with open comb base plate
    • NOS 1960s Schick Super Stainless Steel blade
    • NOS 1940s-1950s Lifebuoy Shaving Cream
    • Vintage Rubberset 400-3 brush - restored for me by @Old School - with a TGN 24mm Finest-grade 2-band badger hair knot set at 44mm loft
    • End with Tet-A-Tet aftershave balm
A very nice shave... I recently acquired this Occam's Safety Razor from the 2021 Traveling Mystery Box. As an experienced wet shaver, it was a bit awkward shaving with the Ridge Line cap that it came with. The Ridge Line cap is supposed to help beginners learn the proper angle to hold the razor. There was also available a regular smooth cap and I'm now on the hunt for it. I did email them last week inquiring if more of the smooth caps will be made but I have yet to receive a reply from them.

As always, pure mow down bliss from the Schick Super Stainless Steel blade. I've yet to throw any razor at this blade and it perform poorly. Simply one of the best blades ever made IMHO.

The vintage Lifebouy Shave Cream is growing on me. Really a nice cream, especially when whipped up with a brush that has extreme backbone like my restored Rubberset 400-3 that I used.

Finished off with the now discontinued Russian Tet-A-Tet aftershave balm. I'm really going to miss it once I have used up all of my stock.
