DE SOTD, Thur, June 24, 2021 Razor: Razorock Game changer.84 , MFG 2018> well built SS razor tame mid range with a standard blade. I like to use a Kai extra wide in this razor for more blade feel and the results are mostly excellent. Blade: Kai SS (8) Excellent sharp & smooth blade with great longevity. Blade is .009" or 9/1000 of a inch wider than a standard Gillette Astra SP blade. Soap: Razorock what the puck lime, nice summer lime scented soap with excellent lather qualities. Tripled milled soap also. Brush: Yaqi HM 24mm Silver tip, excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, great scrub + great lather painter, not a lather hog. Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area. Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave: Witch hazel+ Nivea refreshing As + a dollop of Nivea balm. Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + 2 blemish weepers= Excellent shave with my RR GC .84 with a Kai SS blade. Didn’t notice anything different shave wise from the original but, then again I haven’t shaved with the OG in a bit. Might have to reacquaint myself with the 1st. Friday morning’s Grand Freeze: Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Astra Green day 12 Stirling Glacial Wintergreen SS Stirling Glacial Wintergreen ASB Stirling Glacial Wintergreen WH Bleu de Chanel Deodorant Stick Bleu de Chanel EdP A perfect day for such a frigid setup because it’s going to be very hot today - my beautiful Yaqi Barber Pole brush whipped up tons and tons of fantastic lather that was so rich, slick, and bone chillingly cold from the Glacial Wintergreen soap, the matching balm and witch hazel kept the freeze going, and do I ever smell delightful thanks to the Bleu de Chanel. Original Mamba .53/Kai (3). It was observed elsewhere that despite its reputation as an extremely mild razor, the original Mamba has significant positive exposure. Thing is you'd never experience decent edge to skin contact shaving at a traditional 30 degree angle but at a more radical angle (the edge to shave plane angle is a wild 16 degrees), the Mamba shaves just fine thanks. Not much in the way of pick ups from Dave's Aristocrat.
