July 1 SOTD Good morning guys! Shavette shave #279 Dovo shavette Personna Hairshaper Blade (7) Semogue OC Super Badger Brush Stirling Satsuma SS and AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's WH Whiskers: 23 hrs The Semogue whipped up a slick lather. Satsuma has a wonderful mandarin scent that is really marvelous. Did 2 passes with minor touchups for a near BBS shave. No cuts and no irritation occurred. I had very little stinging from the alum. Applied the witch hazel and the Satsuma aftershave to finish this nice shave. Have a terrific day gentlemen!
Wonderful shave and thanks for picking the thread up once again. I was going to pick it up but you beat me to it.
July 1 Shave • Stirling Stuff - Island Man flavored • JR 367 the tall majestic end of somebody’s baseball bat • Essence by Tedalus replaceable blade straight featuring 1/2 GSB, Feather ProGuard, Feather Pro Light A delightful shave any way I sliced it!
July 1st Back at Circuit of the Americas for a 3 day working weekend. Reused image… Proraso Shave Foam & After Shave - Red Feather AC DX (kamisori style) Schick Proline P-30 (2) Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Jelly In for July, I think I’ll play enabled copycat by @Primotenore, and have a focus of only open edge shaves. Always enjoy this setup, glamping style, no mirror per se, just an iPad mini with the FaceTime camera turned on, looking at my mug on the screen. Proraso’s shave foam is great, easily enough slick for this diminutive razor, which bites like a TRex if you’re not paying attention. Today was the usual 2 passes, TRex went hungry though, no crimson shed. Nice DFS+ results. Finished with PAA’s after shave balm followed by Proraso’s matching barbershop sandalwood after shave. Will play catch up in a bit, hope everyone’s day was great!
Welcome back Jeff. Another wonderful shave we have been accustomed to but have missed the last few months.
Very nice Joseph! Love the details. Just an added thought, you have a Feather AC DX (still with scales) if I remember….lather up, but no blade in the DX. Practice that ATG neck pass…. For me, left neck area is pretty straight forward, growth is almost straight down, so I use a near direct south to north stroke holding razor with right hand, blade toe to the left ear. Right neck area, growth is 45 degrees up towards right ear. I hold the razor in right hand, 3 fingers holding the spine, toe almost straight down, start at the right side jaw hinge, and sweep down to center to Adams apple. Non traditional for sure, but it works. Hope it helps!
Great shave and illustration on how to insert the different blades Bill. My question for you is will it take a Personna Hairshaper blade?
