Good morning gentlemen. It's been a little while since I frequented this wonderful corner of the world. Things have been mighty busy around here, but the shaves are still happening. I hope that everyone is well and in high spirits despite the challenges we are all still facing. Update: having become obsessed with my MMOC (MM if you're Fuzzy), I have exhausted my supply of GEM PTFE blades (my last one sits in the razor) and I didn't have the foresight to order more well in advance. I made a visit to Connaught Shaving to purchase 200 of these, only to discover that they are in fact sold out and said that I could sign up to be emailed when they are back in stock (which I promptly did). A question to all of you gentlemen more knowledgeable than I - is there a shortage of these blades globally, or was it just bad timing on my part? For now, I'll have to use my R41 I guess (it's a hard life ).

July 6th Razor: H&S Co NO75LE Blade: Gillette Platinum (2) Brush: Grizzly Bay Festive Pre-shave: PAA Cube Soap: Noble Otter The Night Before PAA Galactic Witch Hazel PAA Star Jelly AS: Noble Otter The Night Before Good morning! Christmas in July! Terrific three passer to start the day! I did do something I know to be a mistake, I did some baby chasing in the hollows of my neck after my usual three passes. Bumpy skin with whiskers that grow flat and in a circular pattern. Easy to peel skin off the high spots. Result, weepers and hot alum. Fortunately no residual redness or discomfort. Like I said, I know better but that probably won't stop me from trying it again. Have a great Tuesday! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Great to hear from you James. Gem blades are available in bulk here in the US at razor blades and more with now issues.
SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, JULY 6, 2021 This morning’s Joe Friday “just the facts” mug shave featured the Wade & Butcher 7/8. The razor is beautifully balanced and easily swept away the MWF lather generated by the Viking Silvertip Badger brush in three luxurious passes. The Gillette New LC mowed down my noggin stubble in two ATG passes. The Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme Balm finished things off nicely leaving me feeling clean and porcelain smooth. RAZOR: Wade & Butcher 7/8 (Mug), Gillette New LC (Dome) BLADE: Feather DE PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme AS Balm.
I like your style of using an out of season soap Jim! Wonderful shave, pic and setup! You prompted me to use Stirling Christmas Eve sometime this month. Thanks!
Great to hear from you James! I am not a Gem blade user so I can't help you. However, having an R41 is a great backup!
Thanks, Joe! I think I'm going to keep the Christmas in July theme going for awhile. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
July Focus Yardley~~Simpson~~Boker~~Oud al Layl Back in the Boker (Böker) saddle again. No awkward set-downs, but a couple of skin breaches. The Yardley was easily whipped into a slick 'n protective (huh? see above) lather. Love the Duke knot. It's got just enough backbone and scrub to invigorate your skin. Good---not perfect, results on the lower neck. I'll keep at it, but after many, many straight shaves, I am fairly certain a BBS result on this area is out of reach...literally and figuratively. Cleaned up with the Thayer's Witch Hazel and ASB. Fragrance today is nowhere to be found on Fragrantica nor basenotes: Oud Al Layl EDP Perfume By Arabiyat Instead of notes, I will offer you up a review from one of my favorites, AC.
