It is thinner and allows a lower angle of approach

The DX was designed for barbers use and deliberately to be ‘head heavy’ where Essence is balanced.

There are more hand hold options and the tool is nicely jumped top and bottom.

I am more comfortable with the moves that I find more challenging.

Originally, I considered 3 blade options a plus, but now that I’ve used other blades I’ll keep feeding it Artist Club types.

The DX is no slouch. I love mine, and with fresh steel, it’ll outshave any true straight I’ve ever used, maintenance free. Wish I’d spend more for the wood scaled one now though.

And, this adds absolutely nothing to the shave, but it looks cool.

Thank you Jeff. I like both the Yates and the Karve. The Karve has more different bases plates available and will work with any handle. The plate choices for the Yates are more limited and by design using other handles is a pain. Overall I would say the Karve is my favorite. Since the Yates is a newer addition its getting the most love and attention now.
