Happy Hump Day Everyone. I was looking in the cabinet trying to decide on today's lineup and the Asylum Colonia and Paladin looked like just the ticket. The Paladin brush is a face lathering dream with plenty of backbone and a soft scrub. The Colonia was easy to load and lather. This soap base is not quite on par with the other SV offerings but it is still much better than many artisan soaps. Three passes and touch ups ended in another automatic drama free BBS shave. I really can't ask for more. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

I know nothing about how a negative exposure razor will shave. The leading edge of the blade contacting skin will shave. Does the negative exposure keep the leading edge from making contact? I'll find out tomorrow.

German steel up today, continuing my July straight "rule".
Wednesday also means a lather with one of the best vintage products ever made.
The German #4 really created a load o' lather---plenty for a three pass shave.
I always add menthol crystals when I break open a new puck of Williams
and the cooling effect is very refreshing.
40 laps on the no-name 3" leather strop, followed by 20 on my Slavin 2".
The edge on the Goldedge is excellent and the feedback when shaving is the loudest
    of all my straights.
48 hours of growth easily and effortlessly removed without incident.
Neck work gets a grade of B+.
Today's fragrance is another from the house of Frederic Malle:

The longevity of this juice is extended and the
dry down, remaining close to the skin
is when the musk really takes over.
It starts off citrusy and musky, with a sweetness from the tonka bean.
    Nice smell. :happy088:

No, the leading edge makes contact. The negative exposure requires that you ride the cap and narrows the sweet spot.

I just put in another order from The Perfume Spot. Let's see what the shipping time is for it. I know one thing-the shipping is FREE for TPS items. I think they're based in Jersey so it shouldn't take long.

Well, I'm finally making some "digging" sense out of my MWF soap. Suds are beginning to show. Wasn't that way for my first few uses. 0:40 to load the soap onto the Stoylin No-Name. Probably should have gone for a full minute, but it seemed as if I had enough at 40. Clearly I didn't, as much of the first pass, and some of the second, was invisible. I could have used my Rise Invisible A.S. tube(yes, I still have a few of those)and it would have produced about the same result. Yet I went after what "appeared" to be on my face and neck, and got a nice shave. both passes. Had to work a little more in some areas than others. Mennen Skin-Bracer to give me a nice cool finish(to the shave). Passion/Men Fragrance to close out. Outta This World Excellent.,

Interesting thought. I am in the process of investigating another custom straight. I am looking at something like thins:

BACIAMISUBITO Irish tip, mirror finish, quarter grinding, coral resin handle

The artisans is: Coltelleria Fontani. He can be found on FB. He has some interesting stuff. I would look to getting a 8/8 blade with a quarter hollow or wedge grind.

Very cool, quite the looker Joe! Big fan of larger blades w/thick grinds...the momentum required in combination with easy maneuvering, precise control, as well as quiet shaving....not much beats it.

    Vanta Soligen shavette
    Astra SP snapped (fresh)
Hembree Delrin handle with synthetic knot
    Razorock P160 shave soap
Scottish Antique by Andy Hilfiger cologne

I could not resist and had to try out the Vanta this morning. I had trouble fitting the snapped blade so I snipped the curve parts off of the blade. The blade then laid flat and was easy to load.

I completed two passes overall and three on the neck. I did have a couple of weepers that showed up late to the party. Alum was a little warm in a few spots.

A little witch hazel and cologne and this one was finished.

The Vanta is a nice shavette and a joy to drive. I really like the thin profile of the blade holder. I also appreciate the tabs covering the blade corners.

I hope every has a great day.

    DE Shave # 352

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: PAA Prismatic
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
Lather: Dr. Jon’s Gravity (JustOneJuly Soap Weekdays)
Aftershave: Barrister & Mann Le Grand Chypre
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera

Another fine shave combination with the Prismatic and the Dr. Jon’s Gravity. Three passes, as per my norm, have resulted in a fabulously smooth and irration free shave. The sample of the B & M splash has been binned. I am smelling good as well. Unfortunately, on previous occasions SWMBO has indicated that she is not a fan of this scent.

    Have a great day gentlemen.
