Thursday morning shave, unmarked CVH 5/8”. Acquired for $5, yesterday newly honed and firmly stropped. Great shave. It must be quite old thinking of the box that is green/grey instead of red. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Well, the razors from Eskilstuna is quite often really good tools. Definitely not all of them though.. but the SSA, CVH, EDV Neiström, Klas Törnblom, JA Hellberg is safe to buy. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
When you have a great edge on a Klas, it will probably last longer than any other straight razor edge. Must be the hardest steel ever in the straight razor history.. for good and bad, especially when it comes to honing Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Thank you Hans, I have a E.A. Berg that hard, and I got 153 shaves from a Filarmonica 14 Sub Cero edge it took me over a year to test that edge.. The Filarmonica was not the smoothest during the shave at the end, but the shave results were fine. I have a couple of French framebacks too, that rival that hardness, of course they may be Swedish steel.
The hardness comes from two aspects, the steel quality ( composition ) and of course the hardening process. Normally straight razors have a hardness around 60 hrc, Korat have 65. Would be interesting to test a Klas or a Hellberg. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Mini-Helje time… C.V. Heljestrand MK30 Brush: AP Shave Co. Suds: Oleo Soapworks Splash: Oleo Soapworks Montrose Beach The look of the 30 series is tough to beat IMO. Enjoy your shave. Tom
Love that razor! I have 3 MK, the strange thing is that they have different width.. the right one is shortened due to the previous crack in the edge, have had it in my position for 33 years. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk

Thanks Hans. That is quite the difference between same models… I would have sworn that one on the right was a shortened 31 if I couldn’t see the model number.
Le Grelot 14 on its first outing, the shave was wonderful, equal to any other 14 that I have, but this is not surprising for a Le Grelot. Soap and AS were Stirling Green, a perfect summer scent, and the brush was a Duke 3 copy, emerald pearl in 2-band by @Life2short1971
Thank you Tom, this one is a jewel. It was in a plastic sleeve vs a coffin, which means that it is a later razor, but these were all good I believe, this one certainly is. A subtle distinction is the nose shape, it’s not really round, it’s chamfered top and bottom and shallow on the radius, like many Heljestrtrands.
