SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, AUGUST 4, 2021
Last night my youngest grandson, Nate, age 3 1/2, and his mother stopped by. After he fell asleep, I convinced his mother to let him stay over. Sure enough, at 5:45 this morning, the little bugger was by the side of G-Pop’s bed whispering rather loudly, “are you sleeping?”. Shortly thereafter the two of us tiptoed past the side of the bed on which his smiling, supposedly sleeping grandma was laying and headed for the Shave Den.
I grabbed my Feather DX and unloaded the blade for Nate, and then grabbed my lovely old cast steel Boker and my Gillette FatBoy for myself. Nate loves to build lather, so I bloomed the MWF for him, handed him the Rearden Razor Tuxedo Synth brush, and together with both our hands on it built a prodigious amount of lather, much more than I usually would. I then lathered up his little face, and handed him the empty Feather DX and watched while he proceeded to shave his face, G-Pop’s knees and my poor little dachshund, Gromit’s back. We were apparently making a lot of noise according to grandma!
Nate then sat down on the floor and lifted Gromit up onto his lap while I started my mug shave. It was pretty funny hearing him explain to Gromit about my shave. Well, after three passes on the mug with the sweet little French Point Boker and two on the noggin with the Fatboy, yours truly was dolphin smooth. We then headed downstairs where Grandma had whipped up fresh blueberry pancakes, Nate’s favorite, for the two of us. Not a bad way to start the day!
