    Mystery Soap "3"~~Rubberset 400/3~~1958 D3 Adjustable/Sharp Star
I have been asked to "test" shave soaps in the past, this latest request is a soap simply known as "3".
    IMG_9205.jpeg
My devoted followers may well recall this soap, as it was twice used before being interrupted by
the infamous "4" Sheep Soap test of 2021. Sheep Soap failed.
I will do anything for a great lather, up to and including a long "bloom".
    IMG_9212.jpeg
Puck secured to the bottom of my Aesop SS lathering bowl, I rode my Rubberset as I imagine Captain Ahab
rode the great white whale. This was about the best I could get:

    [IMG] A bit airy...
Even working it on the skin, lather never developed a cohesion.
    IMG_9214.jpeg

The level of protection this lather afforded the second-shave Sharp Star was just mediocre, not even average.
    :prrr:

With all of the great soaps in my shave den, it doesn't take too many shaves to reach a favorable,
    or...unfavorable opinion.
I saved the day with my almost 50 year old antique:

This is the scent of optimism, bell-bottoms, leaded gasoline and polyester.
    I love it.

  15. 1961 brit rocket

it has the smaller twist knob like the parat..

the only non HD500 set England marketed as a "rocket"

compared to my early 50s rocket on left, whick sadly has a broken center post..
note the larger twist knob and no "II" on the base plate.
