1. My diplomat has it, and before I saw the president I'd have thought no way out comes out. The president plastic is folded in and cracked on one side, but it still protects 90% of the silk lining. I think I may get creative to secure it.
    stuartganis and brit like this.
  2. makes sense.the mid 50s and newer brit aristocrats have the same plastic cover on the liner. part and parcel.

so good i will liquidate the rest of my collection..

    yeah,not so fast:D
    fine shaver.
  4. Speaking of my Diplomat, here it is...a wonderful shaver for a gold President.
Regarding the plastic lid liner chatter, on the diplomat it is very a thick material and not very pliable at all. On the president it's similar to the thin cellophane wrap on a pack of blue blades...I think I'm going to toss that one.

  5. awesome diplomat set :cool:Mike.that would make sense on the liner ,maybe someone added the plastic to protect the original one.
  6. #8 new sc cambridge
the lower inner liner is also backwards in my set..and has been that way a very long time..as indicated by the tooth wear on the rh side inner lid liner

  7. Fantastic super rare kit! I have only seen two other examples... In the last 12 years. Did it come with the liner backwards like that? Have you tried flipping it around?
    brit and jmudrick like this.
  8. that's how i got it.there are little to no teeth marks on the left side of the inner lid.there is a slight indent in the center of left that matches where the handle rubbed.

i could switch it around but the marks may look odd and tampered with..:D

  9. Very cool. Maybe it belonged to a lefthanded guy who immediately turned the innards around when he got it?
    brit and IAmTheJody like this.
  10. We don't do that.

  11. Ah thanks! - You don’t grab the razor with your dominant hand - or you don’t switch the innards?
… And here I was, thinking I was so clever :D

  12. Actually I'm fairly ambidextrous. But definitely I leave innards where they belong.
