I got this Eagle set from @Jrdelgado and @GAW9576 sent me a couple of pics of how to modify a Gem blade to use in them..........

I just figured it would take modern gem blades like most all the lather catchers do. I guess I'll look into it when it arrives but what modification was needed? Just removing the spine?

it involves removing the spine, removing some of the back of the blade and adding the spine back on...............

Thanks, looks straightforward enough. What's the valet blade there for? I have 2 Eagle blades to see the amount to remove so that should help.

I put that in for size reference. I didn't have an already despined Gem blade and the feather was right there. @jimjo1031 asked me if the blade could be used without the spine. I don't remember if I responded to that question. However I did try it and the blade flexed a bit to much without the spine. If it was trimmed to the perfect size it may work though. I didn't have a. Original blade to go by so mine may be still a bit over sized.

Absolutely. Having an original blade will definitely help.

I know some gems, maybe all, have little nubs to catch and align the front edge... maybe the same principal. Just curious.

Are you criticizing my cut geometry? :happy097:
Yeah it's a little off but the Eagle does have blade stops and the blade is only contacted at one point on the spine so it doesn't have to be perfect.
